Hi Hellybell
Do you have the ranges of the test results?
Generally speaking your t4 looks on the low side and TSH a little high. Have the docs tested you for thyroiditis/antibodies?
Thanks
Hellybell, Unfortunately TSH is high enough to cause you hypothyroid symptoms but you aren't likely to get treatment until it is at the top of your range. Make sure your next thyroid function test is early in the morning when TSH is highest and ask for thyroid peroxidase antibodies to be tested to rule out autoimmune thyroid disease (Hashimoto's).

Hi and thank you for the response
Had my TSH T4 and T3 done again these are the results, I actually got a doctor who believed that I should have my antibodies checked yay!
TSH has now dropped to 1.4
T4 is 11.4
T3 is 4.4
accordingly apparently these are within the normal range but still suffer from extreme fatigue, weight gain is a real issue and have changed all dietary needs etc
Have lost most of internal reproductive organs due to some form of hormonal imbalance but we don't know what. Have also been informed that there is a small nodule of 6x5x5mm in lower left lobe of thyroid, is this an issue as I have extreme difficulty with swallowing but have had all clear from ENT specialist any ideas?
Thanks for your replies
Hellybell, It's likely you have Hashimoto's which will cause fluctuations in your TSH. It can also cause the thyroid to swell when it is under attack. I think that's more likely to cause you problems with swallowing as the nodule is very small.
Post your autoimmune thyroid antibody results when you have them.
Thank you Clutter! Am feeling extremely frustrated with my GP as he just will not listen. Also am battling what my doctor calls Systemic Poisoining, any ideas?
Hellybell, I'm not sure what systemic poisoning is, what has caused it or what treatment you are having but I wonder whether it may have affected your thyroid, something they call non-thyroidal illness, which when resolved should mean your normal thyroid function is restored.
I just went through this. I live in the US & never knew this problem existed there. Everyone I know has a Thyroid problem. If you or anyone in your family has an autoimmune disease in your family, you are at risk for thyroid disease. I have been in bed for a year. Dr did not do proper blood work until all of my body hair fell out. Statistics here show 1 in 3 people have thyroid problems. My TSH was 2.5 points higher than it should be & cholesterol was 232. I have never had cholesterol over 150. Thyroid nodules are usually benign but should be biopsied once a year. REMEMBER:. Thyroid controls every body function.
This is a really old post, Londonium.
