A doctor suggested I use Dhea the hormone to help me cope with the thyroxine I was taking. The armour was making me very sleepy and the dhea seems to have helped but I worry about putting on weight. I wondered if anyone else was using it and whether people have found it useful.
Dhea: A doctor suggested I use Dhea the hormone... - Thyroid UK
Dhea
I have DHEA on prescription as part of my HRT (as I can't tolerate extra testosterone, but make my own OK with enough raw materials). Can't say whether it would help with anything else. My weight is pretty stable.
I have taken 7 keto DHEA. I didn't notice weight gain but I did lose a lot of hair so I've had to stop taking it. I did notice a slight improvement in symptoms though but I decided the price to pay (hair loss) was too much.
If your tests show low DHEA, then take it, 5mgs sublingual[under the tongue] is good, other wise i wouldn't. Armour should not make you sleepy. Maybe you are under medicated?
I take 25mg daily as prescribed by my Doctor and have noticed no weight changes. I did some research and it says it is supposed to actually help in weight loss. Maybe when my thyroid meds are stable, I will experience that benefit.
