mummytina - do you have any blood test results that you can post. If you don't, contact your GP and ask for a print-out of recent tests, with ranges. It is likely (from experience) that they will have done the minimum of testing. It's amazing how their attitude changes when they know you will see the results.

You need to get TSH, FT4, FT3 (you might have to insist on this one, or even have it done privately if they totally refuse), Vit D, Vit B12, Folate, Iron, Ferritin, Thyroid antibodies. Many hypo people are deficient in one or more of these vits/minerals which should be well in range not just at the bottom of the range.

Make an appointment with your GP as it seems these are side effects of levothyroxine. There are two links below with these side effects:-

netdoctor.co.uk/medicines/e...

patient.co.uk/medicine/levo...

You should not be having shaking hands or fast heartbeat. If he makes any suggestions, ask if you can drop 50mcg levo for the addition of 10mcg T3. It may not work but it's a thought. Also always try to make sure you get the same make of levothyroxine each time you pick up your prescription, as different ones may have different fillers/binders. If you find a suitable one ask chemist to keep this in stock for you.

Hi - sorry I can't be more specific but I had the shakes to the point I could not write or pour a cup of tea and for me this resolved when I got off thyroxine. Even though this probably not applicable to you it might be worth keeping in the back of your mind. I'm unable to tolerate thyroxine, i wasn't converting it to the active hormone and it was making me toxic. My bloods however, were normal. I hope you feel better soon.

Hi. Sorry you are suffering with this. I had these exact bad symptoms just before I was diagnosed with Graves/Hyperthyroidism. Please go to docs to have tests to check your levels. Hope you feel better soon. I was given low dose of beta blockers to calm it down. X

Horrid, scary side effect: sympathies. But quite common, if that's any comfort!

According to one of the more sensible doctors I used to see, these palpitations can occur with hyper or hypo thyroidism.

With a racing heart you should consult your doctor. They tend to take that seriously.

I sometimes get the shakes in one hand/arm. It happened yesterday but after taking my afternoon dose of T3 it stopped. I have been told that my muscles are tight on my right side...could be. My heart rate is always quite high but doesn't bother me and when I cut back some of my T3, just to check my medication level, I put on 6lbs in 4 weeks.
