Help please as new blood results appear to be 'abnormal'..............

Hi all - quick back story is that I've been hypo since I was 21 (now 38) and endo has said I have hashi's and have been on 10mcg of T3 for 3 months now and also continued with 125mcg of levo too. I have other autoimmune issues such as lichen planus and pernicious anemia.

I saw my GP a couple of weeks back as my worst problem is muscle pains in my legs/back/shoulders and she's referred me to a rheumatologist and I'm waiting on the appointment but bloods have been done in the meantime as I was worried the muscle pain may have another cause that could be autoimmune too. Anyway results are in and I was told on the phone that everything was normal but now I have the print out they don't appear to be..........

Erythrocyte sedimentation rate: 19 mm/h (range 0.0-7.0) Above range

Citrullinated Peptide Abs 1.0 u/ml (0.4-6.9)

Anti CCP antibodies

CPEC

Plasma creatine kinase level 159 (38.0-234)

My main concern here is that the ESR seems to be above range but when I said that to the receptionist and asked if the GP needed to see me she said no, that they'd marked down that result was fine?!!! Am I missing something but is that result not fine? I know ESR shows inflammation in the body so can anyone tell me if that result is really 'fine'? I'm actually over the moon that a possible abnormality has shown up in one of my results as it might mean there's something actually diagnosable........

I've also had T4 and TSH tested too and they're abnormal but the GP's note said that I should discuss with my endo when I see him on the 28th.........

Plasma T4 12.6 (range 6.3-14.0)

Plasma TSH Below range 0.08 mu/l (0.3-5.6)

I'm a little worried that my thyroid results have changed so much since last time as I'm only on 10mcg of T3 so I didn't think it would have much effect (and didn't take my meds the morning of the test).

I'm worried that the endo might want me to come off the T3 as my results are classed as 'abnormal' so am wondering what everyone makes of it really?

ETA I had my ESR checked in December 2012 and then the result was 2.0 (range 0-12)

Just wanted to give this a little bump as I'd be really grateful for any advice before I see the doctor :)

It's normal for someone on T3 to have an abnormal TSH result (ie very low). Your T4 result is within range but a bit high for someone on T3. I would say you could take a bit more T4.

As I understand it, a high ESR can indicate infection whilst a moderately high level can indicate inflammation (with or without infection), so it is normally repeated where there are symptoms requiring further investigation. Hence your referral to a rheumatologist. You are on a very low dose of t3 but together with your t4 is enough to suppress your TSH which is perfectly okay so long as your T3 is within range - was your t3 tested? Your t4 is within range and within the top quartile, which is the result of your levothyroxine, but were your t3 dosage to be higher it's likely that your T4 could go lower as you would have less of a need to generate t4 for conversion to t3. As your t4 is in the top quartile and you are taking T3 meds, I don't understand the need to up your levothyroxine as suggested.

No T3 wasn't tested - the gp wrote it on the form but she said the hospital always refuse it and send a sarcastic comment back :(
