Abnormal Blood Results

I wonder if someone could help I’ve been in hospital after having an asthma attack and a few weeks down the line I’m still feeling unwell. When I was discharged they said my Thyroid levels were high and will need my Endo consultant to review but after getting the results it seems there are a few abnormal results would this all be down to my thyroid meds not being right. I have attached a copy of my last test results

Previous post showing GP ignored endocrinologists recommendation on your thyroid treatment reducing Liothyronine from 60mcg to 5mcg

healthunlocked.com/thyroidu...

Suggest you take that up with Practice manager/CCG/and GMC

You’re now EXTREMELY under medicated and very hypothyroid

Liothyronine will need increasing slowly back up.

Insist that T3 prescription is reinstated

Also essential to test vitamin D, folate and B12 and full iron panel test for anaemia

Ignore high cholesterol, that will drop as liothyronine is increased

nhs.uk/conditions/statins/c...

If you have an underactive thyroid (hypothyroidism), treatment may be delayed until this problem is treated. This is because having an underactive thyroid can lead to an increased cholesterol level, and treating hypothyroidism may cause your cholesterol level to decrease, without the need for statins. Statins are also more likely to cause muscle damage in people with an underactive thyroid.

A GP is NOT a thyroid expert and should not alter recommended treatment by endocrinologist

Cost was obviously the driving factor in reducing your T3

A Few ? that s a lot of !!!!'s.

i'm out of my depth with that many !!!!'s

was this blood test done when in hospital ?

The allegedly 'normal ' FT4 is actually Very Low, only just scraping into bottom of range.

The TSH is Very High, which unless it is a false result (they may retest it to check for biotin interference etc) shows your pituitary knows you are very low on thyroid hormones T4/T3.

Do you know about 'Non Thyroidal Illness' affecting Thyroid Function Tests temporarily ? (ie other serious acute illnesses)...... so abnormal TFT's in/shortly after hospital cant always be relied on , depending on how ill you were.

Have you had an increase in T3 dose yet. Going to need to increase slowly upwards. 5mcg steps probably

When on 60mcg T3 did you take as single dose or split into 3 x 20mcg

Need URGENT referral back to your endocrinologist

Plus vitamin D, folate, B12 and ferritin tested ....likely extremely low

Not surprised you feel lousy ......... quite surprised you can still spell / sit up / type.

Is this stupidly high TSH the result of them reducing your T3 to nearly nothing ?

Have you seen this , out a couple of days ago ?

pulsetoday.co.uk/news/clini...

If you were being competently treated for hypothyroidism you would NEVER have a TSH of nearly 50.

The proof of the incompetence is plain to see in your TSH result and your referral to Endo.

I suggest you ask for your T3 prescription to be reinstated immediately and if they don't, personally i'd start using the word 'Incompetence' loudy, alongside 'fitness to practice' and 'GMC'

Edit; correction Sorry,it wasn't a couple of days ago ! didn't have glasses on.

Still relevant though.

The TSH is very high. I feel lousy after 2. Although TSH is not the bee all and end all Drs think it is I would be interested to know your TSH on 60mcg Liothyronine? Did you get any tests done then?

I was on Liothyronine for years and when I came back of holiday a year ago I had a routine blood test and my levels were a bit erratic so they wanted to change my meds and they have never been the same since and can’t remember what my results were but I know I never had a problem the whole time I was on them. I asked my endo to put me back on them and she’s a bit reluctant so has changed my medication to 100mcg Levothyroxine daily and 10mcg of Liothyronine twice a day - I have had another blood test today and I have telephone consultation with my endo consultant on Tuesday

All your blood tests should be on file and you can ask for them. Do you have the blood tests from a year ago you can post on here? Might help some of the experienced peeps on here to perhaps understand why they were seen as erratic.
