GP has raised my levothroxine by 25mcgs to 175mcgs, she has asked I go and get a blood test to check levels in six weeks, seems like a long time.

Also given me a blood test form to do now, FBC, B12, Ferritin, RENAL, LIVER,BONE, GLUCOSE, HBAIC, cholestorol, vitamin D, but she said T3 is not needed if you are medicated? Are these the right tests to be having?

Also when will I start to feel an improvement with extra 25 mcgs of levo?

Thank you for any replies :)

Yes 6wks is about right for re-testing after dosage changes. However she is absolutely wrong to say that T3 doesn't need to be tested. You need TSH, T4,T3 as a minimum and preferably FT3&4 (what is unbound from the carrier protein and available to the body). T3 is the active hormone converted from the inactive pro-hormone T4. If you take T4 and it inadequately converts, or if T3 isn't being adequately absorbed, you will still experience symptoms.

Thank you Hypoteq, is it something GPs usually say no to? (Testing T3)
