I saw in an answer to another post that it is important to get them down into range to prevent other auto immune problems (something I suspected but had not actually been told). I was wondering how this is done? Is it through thyroxine? Thank you.
How do you get TPO antibodies down?: I saw in an... - Thyroid UK
How do you get TPO antibodies down?
Could be worth looking at the posts about the Thyroid Summit - several speakers are covering Hashimotos. Shaws and PR4NOW have posted links.... Gluten can be one of the culprits.
selenium and ndt. Got mine down by over 2/3 so far
Thanks for the responses. I gave up gluten and my antibodies came down to normal ( not necessarily linked, but from all I have read gluten is the first thing to give up, to avoid auto immune problems). Was wondering if there was anything else I should be doing. Bluedaffodil, how much selenium do you need? A few Brazil nuts a day? Thanks for the help.
Can I suggest you take a look at Dr Haskell's book Hope for Hashimoto's? He suggests a combination of optimal dosing with levothyroxine, selenium, vitamin D and gluten free eating. There are also some suggestions for further measures if necessary. My antibodies are slowly coming down since I began this about 18 months ago, and most of the time I feel well. Izabella Wentz also has some good info on this subject.
Book ordered, and used the link too
