How to lower TPO antibodies?

I understand that key to managing TED is to keep antibodies under control. What food should be avoided apart from gluten? Any other non-food related tips?

Kari55,

Avoid unfermented soy/soya and gluten. Gluten-free can help reduce TPO antibodies but I'm not sure if it has any effect on Graves antibodies.

Although 80% TED is graves related a small number occur in Hashimoto or euthyroid patients. So it’s important to check the suggestions are appropriate to your situation.

I didn’t try LDN but would do so if I had my time over again.

It was more that some suggestions are suitable if you’re hyper but not if you’re hypo or euthyroid.

According to Dr Izabella Wentz, the following supplement can reduce TPO antibodies:

- Selenium 200mcg/day for 3-6 months.

Smoking is a very big risk factor in regards to developing TED so if you smoke, you should think about quitting :-)
