Armour being stopped in the UK.

I have just been informed by a pharmacist that export of Armour to the UK has been stopped. That it is not going to be exported to the UK in the future. Has anyone else heard of this? I can only get a limited supply - the stocks are dwindling. Don't want to start a self-interest locust swarm or anything, but we are running out, boys and girls! Does anyone have any info?

I've just had a card today to say my order ( armour) is at our sorting Office ......I have to pay customs on it so will collect it tomorrow.This was ordered 10 days ago.

I have ordered this for the first time as a trial as I am on Levo/T3 combo at the moment and want to try NDT in order to see which I think works best for me,as so many here seem to prefer it.If it proved good for me I would then discuss the situation with my Endo and GP.So my future with it very uncertain at the moment.....but do hope there are no shocks in store for all our users......I will watch reports closely.

I have just telephoned some pharmacies on our list and they tell us there is no problem at the moment and they haven't been informed of any policy about stopping Armour coming in.

We do occasionally here this from people whose pharmacist tells them such things but in the most, they are untrue. If anyone hears anything actually from Forest Pharmaceuticals or the MHRA, do let us know.

Yes, this happened a few months ago. Forest, the makers of armour announced they were not going to export it direct to the uk, but the pharmacies are still happy to export it. So its available in the uk via a third party - so if you have a prescription your local pharmacy can still source it, but not directly from forest.

Am currently sitting in my bath, balancing the iPad, so this is done from memory..... :-).

Thanks for all the replies, folks. My investigations so far:

spoke to Forest and they told me they will not be exporting to any pharmacies in the UK. Spoke to Pharmarama - who are a major importer of Armour direct from Forest - and they told me that they will not be importing it once their stocks run out. UK pharmacies, such as the one at Asda, will supply - but at over £1 per tablet, whereas Pharmarama supplied at 35p. All of this is on prescription of course, but the cost from ordinary local pharmacies for a private script of Armour is cost-prohibitive. I guess it is the Irish takeover that has something to do with it, but quite what the link is I am not sure.

My question still is, is there a way of importing Armour on a prescription that is more cost effective than £100 per 100 tablets? Anyone have any advice, please? And my next question...are any of the other NDT preparations really comparable with Armour? I swapped Armour to one I bought online from far far away, but I'm wondering if I feel so crappy is because I changed from Armour (expensive) to this one (inexpensive) ... several people had good results with the less expensive preparation.
