Does anyone else suffer with this, had MRI scan done and on Jan 14 had root nerve procedure done in neck, but the pain is back. Doctor has told me I have Cervical Spondylosis and wants to try me on amitriptyline, very low dose of 10mcg in an evening. Even though an antidepressant they have found that in low doses can help with this kind of pain. Can anyone give me any details, currently taking T4 Levo 100mcgs and T3 NHS (just got) 20mcgs daily.

Hi,

Yes i have the same problem and wa prescibed amitriptiline which didnt really help. I went to the pain clinic and was out on morphine patches and once again not much relief. Iv been told i need surgery for lumber spine degeneration but am going to consider epidural block first, i dont know if thats possible for the cervical spine.

Hi Just seen your reply. You might find below helpful. The epidural block is usually the first choice but not suitable for me.

best wishes,

Jackie

Hi This is often used at a low dose, like this, to dull the nerve endings. You could try, safer option than strong analgesics.been used in this way, all over the body for many years. All my spine is a mess, osteoporosis and fractures etc. For this problem in my neck, as most things precluded due to my co-morbidities. I find the best things are, as suggested by my good rheumy, to wear a soft collar, orthopedic supplies on the WEB. Not a brace. Just a collar washable,, always at night and in the day time as needed. This is an old fashioned idea but really helps Also lots of hot wheat pads, you can get special ones of neck.,WEB

Best wishes,

Jackie

Thanks for the information Jackie. I would just like to ask if this is seen/classed as a disability? My doctor is completing a D3 form? Saying what I can or cannot do, just that in the UK I am currently on Job seekers allowance, which means that I need to activally seek work, but would this qualify for dissability allowance instead? Anyone with any information I would be grateful.

Hi It should, but I doubt it will. No harm in trying and filling in the forms. However, ask the CAB to help with the form, trickier than it seems!

Best wishes,

Jackie
