T3 batch and other brands.....

Hi there

Does any have an opinion on using the NHS T3 or say some other brand of T3? Are they the same or produce different results. I know the last batch of NHS T3 i used was supposedly an "off batch".....

I don't think it right to talk about "NHS T3".

You could visit a private doctor and get a private prescription. You would still get AMCO/MercuryPharma Liothyronine - unless the doctor explicitly wrote a different product (under the so-called named-patient basis).

Theoretically, another company could tomorrow get a marketing authorisation for another T3 product. Then you could get either product dispensed.

I agree with Helvella. It is not 'NHS T3'. It is merely the only brand available from a UK pharmaceutical company (i.e. AmCo/MercuryPharma).

If there's one thing that is blatantly obvious from the posts on this forum over the years, it is that everyone has their own experience of thyroid medications. What works for one does not necessarily work for another. Some people are happy on the UK T3, others are not.

....its just that you hear about people doing better on the Mexican stuff or whatever they get from abroad. I've been feeling worse lately and it was suggested it might be a certain batch of NHS T3.

Indeed, some people do better on different brands, that was my point :) Did you see the MHRA update on the AmCo T3... on the main website here

thanks Red. so what is this basically saying? have i had a bad batch that doesn't work? ive just had aches, no libido and low moods for a while now. i know of another woman who's complaining about the same batch.

It's basically saying that they could not find any problem with the actual potency. But they are continuing to investigate why some people are reporting problems with certain batches.

Therefore, if you feel you are experiencing problems with your current batch, then do fill in the form. it is only by patients properly reporting the issues that things will get investigated.
