What quantities of other vitamins should we be taking daily when self dosing (and without blood tests.)

Both Hubby and myself are thinking of taking vitD3 daily, Hubby has RA with painful aching /weakening muscles along with tiredness. I have Hypothyroidism (taking Levo 75) also had fibromyalgia symptoms which had stopped once I started to take my Levothyroxine at night on an empty stomach, but are gradually creeping back again, (apart from the foggy brain and tiredness thank goodness.)

So along with 5,000iu of Vit D3 (guessing only,)

what quantities of the following should we be taking and have we missed any vitamins or minerals out please ?

B12 ?

Selenium ?

Iron ?

Calcium ?

Magnesium

Iodine ?

You should have a Vit D and calcium test BEFORE supplementing with them, you may not need either and to take high dose Vit D without knowing your calcium level is not advisable, you do not want your calcium to go over the range.

Iodine may irritate your thyroid.

Thank you for the tip about Iodine, Hypohen, (didn't know about that one,) now using Himalayan rock salt which should hopefully have a few trace minerals and Iodine in it, so that should be enough, Daughter kindly gave me the salt, but forgot to save the container/wrapper it was in so I could be taking anything ;)

Yana above has given me a 'Linky' to Thyroiduk's site, which I had overlooked, which has advised vitamins and mineral levels for Hypo/Hyper patients.

Thank you also for warning me against having a calcium test before supplementing, I was given quite a few bloods tests b12 iron ? plus others, was low still in vit D , but Doc said I was already on a high dose at 1,000iu (members on here said 1000iu was not high,) and Doc didn't want to prescribe more even though it was still low I don't think I was given the calcium test, though did forget to ask for my results and will ask next time for them all.

I have been reading 'Your guide to understanding Vit D' on here which is under the 'Pinned Posts' to the right and have been reading their advice too.

Also reading that Hubby's and mine bones aren't getting much needed calcium due to our absorption problems, that's why we are both in pain with our bones, muscles and joints, so hopefully vit D3 will help get the calcium to our bones ? Worth a try than be in pain.

We will trial the doses for a short while and see what our bodies tell us. :O ;) :)

Too much vitD is as bad as too little. Mine was very low <10 and I was prescribe loading dose of 40,000u daily for 7 days then 2,000u daily for 3 months. Google Chris Kessler+vitaminD.
