I have a very painful left knee and thumb. Anything to do with R.A.I.?

I had thyroid cancer 2003, and two sessions of R.A.I. Have had various problems with medications of the years, and am finally feeling a little better. However, for the last 3 days I have had left knee and thumb pain which is getting worse by the day. Any opinions please?

Post RAI problems usually manifest almost immediately and mostly to the face, tear ducts & saliva glands.

Could it be rheumatoid arthritis? RA is an autoimmune disease & you can have a blood test for it. My RA was clear & GP said probably wear & tear and advised use of ibuprofen gel.

Thanks Clutter, my father had R.A. I did think it could be a possibility. Had a wry smile with your response from the G.P. " wear and tear" is their usual response....

Will get my G.P. to check me for R.A.

You may need an increase in your levo. I have had occasional left knee pain but not when my meds are optimum.

If you can get copies of your latest thyroid gland blood tests(complete with the ranges) and post on a new question, someone will comment. Also make sure you have had a B12, Vit D, ferritin, folate and iron. The first two can be deficient with hypo.

Thank you Shaws, it had crossed my mind. I have also switched from Mexican T3, to NHS T3 where the pill content is different. All very compicated. chopping up pills. Strangely also I had my monthly B12 shot yesterday, and miraculously the pain disappeared. I have also upped my T3 a tad. Hopefully problem sorted.

(blood test. reports are not very telling when you are on just t3, as I also had my thyroid removed due to cancer).

Thanks again.
