I've been on T4 for the last 25 years, but during 2010 it dropped and i haven't feel right since. I started to do research and found you lovely people. Eventually i used my works BUPA to se a private Endo. Anyway once again my underactive thyroid dropped in March of this year, so my meds were upped to 10mg T3 and 100mg T4, from 75mg T4. However my GP is saying it's now overactive. I have felt OK, but people are saying how tired i look and i now ache from head to toe every other day???. I asked for a referral last time i saw her but to no avail. My last bloods were:

Serum TSH Range - 0.34 - 5.60mIU/L. My result was 0.12

Serum free T4 Range - 7.50 - 21.10pmol/L. My result was 9.10

Serum free T3 Range - 3.80 - 6.80pmol/L. My result was 4.80

i've had low Vit D with i supplement, but i really don't know what to do for the best, as i've now lost my works private health care as they class this as a chronic condition :(

What 'dropped' Karen, your serum T4/T3 levels ?

What about Iron/Ferritin levels during this tiime [and now]? - this could be helpful

Hi Tegz, i believe it was my TSH levels. Up until i saw private endo last year, i was only being tested for this. However it also appears on private endo's sheet from March that it was just TSH that had dropped.

Yet you don't feel Hyper, do you?

Looks like number chasing is distracting them from what has changed in you.

Low Vit D is not helping. Not sure if so important in T3 use.

Others can comment further- but your T4 &T3 don't seem out for your dosage.

Have you a numbers for VitD and iron?

Finally, Adrenal health is always worth considering when thyroid meds don't perform well.

Would be worth raising this with endo, if you can.

Hi what make of T4 do you take?

Karen, your FT3 is way too low to call you overactive. There are lots of reasons for your TSH to be suppressed without being overmedicated. nahypothyroidism.org/deiodi... I hope that's the right link.

Can you continue getting T3 somehow? Your T4 is lower possibly because of the T3 you are adding but that's to be expected I think.

The levo im taking is levothyroxine by actavis, but good point as we have suffered with dodgy tablets over past 2 years, maybe ill change the packet im on tmrw, you never know. I dont think my gp has any knowledge of t3 etc. so could be good leverage to ask for referral, or shell stop my t3. Maybe i should check my bloods on my own & to help with discussion.
