It kind of is hard to treat until it burns out when its very unstable. would have thought RAI may have been offered as an option to kill it faster so you can then be treated for hypo rather than do nothing. But doing nothing seems to be the choice of doctors these days. I'm not sure if they are allowed to offer something that will ulimately give you a permenant illness while you are still doing ok. Think it comes under the hypocritical oath of "first do no harm", which doctors always go by even when doing nothing can be worse for the patient.

I know it's totally frustrating for me. Don't know which way to turn. Not sure if stress as been the pun ultimate cause. Had this twice now. Even my doctors are baffled by the readings. Think I may suggest a stress adrenal test. To see if this is kicking it off with to much adrenaline being dumped into the body. Wish someone could come up with a miracle cure. The more ill I feel the more stressed I get. Feel in such a vicious circle. I despair. I have just started a degree as well. I am worried that I can't cope with more stress. Not sure how much more stress my body can really take. Think my body is in a permanent state of anxiety with fluctuations from day to day.

Pixie, it would be nice at this stage to know if you have autoimmune disease due to leaky gut. You could work on that and see if it helps. Being strict about your diet eating only whole food, not processed and no artificial foodstuff gives your gut a chance to heal.

The adrenals could very well be involved and maybe giving them support might also help.

Selenium is also helpful in certain forms.stopthethyroidmadness.com/s...

Thank you for the information , according to the doctors in regards to my blood tests. My antibodies are fine? However I am still confused to why I have this inflammation of the thyroid if my antibodies are ok. This doesn't explain my situation. Could it be stress that's causing it to inflame I do not know? All I know is that I am having bouts of anxiety I think this maybe due to the imbalance of fluctuating hormones, within two weeks I can go from overactive to under active. It does appear that when I was going college ( I am a mature student) there was a lot of assignments and exams in regards to my A"levels. Not sure if this contributed to it becoming inflamed again. There appears to be a pattern. "Stress" don't cope very well at all :0( had so much trauma in my life, think my body as decided to pack up. Wish there was a cure :0) to reverse the effects of this.

I am going to take up yoga to see if this helps. I also have an appointment shortly to see a CPN to get to the source of my once troubled childhood. Think this could be the root cause coming back to haunt me. When I think it's forgotten about its really never gone. We do try and bury things and then are health can suffer in so many forms. E.g inflammation of the thyroid gland. Thank you for taking the time to read my post. :0)

yoga, acupuncture and massage when you can, I stopped eating wheat, take aloe vera daily with manuka honey and cut back on alcohol, also take L-Glutamine without food, tasteless powder you put in water on empty stomach, said to help with gut healing and lowering immune reaction....x

I believe you are on the right track. It happened to my son while he was working on his PhD which was extremely taxing. I even feel my problem began with stress which adrenals may be the first affected.

Yoga would be a wonderful start. Dr. Herbert Benson did a study and published a book regarding stress and its affect on the hypothalamus which is the master gland. There are cd's that have a binaural beat that brings brainwaves to an alpha theta state (complete relaxation). Rather than wait for your thyroid to shrink, I would try healing first.

You could google relaxation response and see if you would like to try it.
