I have been to see endo consultant for the1st time since 2009 and consultant I saw intially took interest in me and my thyroid history and tested for Addisons which was ok.However I had second appointment which turned out to be a different consultant I believe to be head of department. After showing very little interest in my symtoms mainly bouts of fatigue, stomach problems, feeling cold and more he made the crass comment that this is just the way it is for me!!! Talk about being dismissive. I said very little in responce purley due to the fact I was furious and was biting my tongue to prevent me saying something I may have regretted. His final comment was that further appointments where not required and just see my GP. I wonder how many of you have experienced consulations of this nature and I now wonder where I go from here.

I see a private thyroid specialist who is amazing, she has done all the tests and referred me to other Cons for opinions, I couldn't have asked for more. Nothing definite has shown up although I do have other health issues which may be causing my fatigue. I am Hypo and have been for many years.

She made the same comment to me on Saturday, that the tiredness I have may just be the way it is for me and that it is something I probably just have to accept and learn to live with. Now I know everything has been checked out and there is really nothing they can do about the tiredness I can pace myself to try and get round the problem.

Hi there hyophen, presumably with the in depth consultations you've had you must have had your B12 tested as you say that everything is OK.

However, when I was feeling this lack of energy and tiredness I could only work around the house in the morning and took to my sofa in the afternoons, but after being recommended B12 methylcobalamin Vits following a vitamin test I sent for some on line and have felt so much better.I am now happy after a short rest to get up and carry on with other things that need doing...such an improvement and my motivation and interest in everything is so much better. Sorry if this is of no help to you but it's the only thing I could think of as I am also Hypothyroid. .... I should add that I am 72yrs so obviously have the luxury of the afternoon nap! I appreciate that you may not.

Hi Marfit, thanks for your suggestion, yes I have had everything checked, I am Vit D deficient and have problems with supps but I am keeping on top of it. I'm 58 so no spring chicken and my days are quite hectic, sadly I don't even have time for a sit down some days, roll on the day when I can pack up work and take a breath. I wish you well for the future.

Hi there again......when we post to people ,we have no idea how old they are do we,so I can appreciate how difficult things are when life is hectic......just one little footnote....did you know that Jarrow B12 tablets are sublingual and dissolve in your mouth without having to be digested in the stomach.I thought it was worth posting this to you in case you were unaware and did need something at some stage. However,I wish you well too .

Hi Geffers, I can see no reason why fatigue should be a normal state for you, or anyone else for that matter. How much levo are you taking and do you have your test results to post, this might throw some light on it. I assume you have had all the obvious tests done for deficiencies and adrenal function. Coeliac is also a good test to rule out (or in) as well, especially if you are having gut issues.

Endo sounds like an incompetent idiot.

Hi Jan,

I have test for t3,t4= normal, tsh = 0.01 and complete bloods as my GP calls it. I also requested vit test and they were ok. I was hyper originally but afer 3x radio-iodine treatment got all these symtoms.I did see Dr Skinner in 2009 just for second opinion but really so I could get Levo script to see if it would work. I take 0.75mcg but the last endo suggests I reduce it as my t3 is in upper level apparently.I get copies of recent test results to post.

Hello Geffers, without the actual results it is difficult to say what is going on. Doctors and endo's always say things are normal, even when this is far from the case.

Hello geffers. Yes I have the same experience. I was told not to look for things. He didn't even test my thyroid. The lab said it was too soon. The last test was march. It makes you think is all this in my mind. I know it isn't but like you don't really know what to do about it. I'm seeing the Endo tomorrow. Think I should ask some questions. Regards Harper

Hello Harper. Yes do ask questions, list them before you go and take them along I have done this in the past because there are questions you want to ask but in the course of a conversation forget to do so.

Your TSH is probably too low at 0.01 and if your T3 is also high end then you may well be overmedicated, this can cause fatigue, maybe try a lower dose as your endo suggested

Hi hypohen, This is what endo has advised so I am going to reduce gradually. Thanks for info.
