are we hypos more prone to it? I suspect i have it due to various symptoms including fungal nail and sugar cravings. Will normal anti fungal medication get rid of it? Thanks for any advice in advance x

I am not sure if this will be helpful but this is an excerpt from another page

Low stomach acid and Candida

Patients have discovered that increasing the acidic level of their stomachs can slow the growth of candida. (By the way, if you have candida, do an internet search for “baking soda candida”)

You have to cursor down this page

Hi gracegirl78 ,

Not just us hypo's any one can get it..over use of anti biotics ,steroid meds ....and FOOD.. Sugar , yeast are the main causes !

The anti fungals will help but won't get rid of a bad case .pro-biotic tablets .lactobacillius ( NOT the little yogurt drinks) are well worth taking and diet changes will help a lot. I really recommend Erica whites anti candida cookbook and beating candida..she has a website as well.with a list of symptoms and a practical guide to getting rid of it! L have been trying to copy and paste from online huge book store with no luck..google her name and you will be able to access info.

I was treated by a private dr for candida and leaky gut..I was very unwell ,as well as hypo and lupus ect very poorly..with diet and supplements I have gained control of that box of symptoms..

I hope you find some help best wishes Donna x

Hi Donna

Well done for successfully treating your candida! I have a mild case of it too. Can I ask, how long did it take you to overcome your symptoms?

Cheers

Sorry to put you off ! But at least two years ..and I still follow the anti candida diet..you can not let it slip .as with the other medical problems I have I take anti biotics and steroids quite often. So if I were not to follow the diet and keep taking the supplements I would be back to square one! I had treated candida years before but I did not realise how bad I was

untill a small glass of wine one evening i was Soo drunk on this small amount and adding my symptoms together a friend of mine who is a herbalist said i had to do something To improve my lot! i still dont drink ..it really does cause extreme fatigue foggy brain fungal infection( nails) urinary infections ( then more anti b's) and a lot of other stuff.food allergys come into it a lot as well ..you often crave what isn't doing you any good like bread( yeasty) sweet foods ( sugar )Beer. Dairy and soya ..there is a Very long list..

I also found the JJ Virgin diet book very helpful...on a different thread..she advocates that most people can't loose weight because of food intolerances ,candida,allergies..it wasnt hard for me to follow her Free from diet plan or healthy eating plan as I was already Free from a lot of foods but I did cut out some hidden sugars..and I LOST 17 ibs which was encouraging so it is do able.. I know a lot of people are put off and think they can't keep to a free from diet..but the good far out ways the missing of some foods ..

HOpe this helps check out Erica whites book very helpful as is her website. Bestwishes
