My normal brand of Carbmazole is Sovereign Medical, I get it in Boots and is a sort of pink colour with a line on ne side and some letters (too small to read withut a magnifying glass) and C20 on the other.
I now have some I got from Lloyds on a hospital prescription, they are white, slightly larger and flatter with a line on one side and no writing.
Does anyone know anything about different brands of Carbimazole?
Thanks
Liz

Hi Liz, it shouldn't matter who makes it the tabs should do the same. I remember that I had different manufacturers even when I went to the same pharmacy. Are you concerned about the tablets?
I also have had different brands of Carbimazole, although the required dosage from the hospital pharmacy and also from local chemist attached to GP surgery. I never felt any different and when I have questioned the varying brands I have been told it is a question of budgets but no difference in the tablet and the work that it does.
Thank you both for replying. No I'm not really concerned, I have only ever had the pink ones and have never had any problems on them, it would be a shame to upset the apple cart.
Years ago I was sensitive when I was put on generic lisinopril for high blood pressure and I didnt feel all that well, think it was one of the fillers because when I compared the contents in both that was all it could have been, fortunately even though he was surprised about it my doctor was willing to put me back to the brand I was having before I was put on the generic.
I have just seen this post. Usually have the pink Carbimazole 20mg in popper style packaging but last month was given white plain tablets in bottle. Palpitations last month were major (with hindsight this coincided with me taking the white tablets). Been back on the pink for last week and feeling very good! What gives?
That's exactly what happened to me, although fortunately I never had to use the white ones, interesting isn't it. I was taking them when I was on block and replaced but have stopped that now - I'm in remission at the moment - and forever I hope.
Have you tried looking on the instruction leaflet that comes with them ( or you can find it online if you look) at the ingredients and comparing what is in both makes. I did that many years ago when I went from a branded tablet for my BP to a generic.
I didn't feel at all good, in the end I made two lists of ingredients and scored off those that were common to both, the left overs were different, can't remember off hand what they were but it boiled down to the fillers in the generic not agreeing with me. Since then I have always been prescribed my original brand.
If you can find out the make of the white ones (I never did!) then you can do that. As it was I never had to take them, they were prescribed by the hospital so I kept them in reserve and never had to resort to using them. Good luck with them, you need to ask what type of carb the pharmacy is using before you hand over your prescription so that you can go elsewhere if it isn't the one you want.
