Two different brands.

My GP has increased my levothyroxine by 25mcg, so I’m now taking 75mcg. 50mcg is by Accord, 25 by Wockhardt. The only other 25 was by Teva , which I won’t take. I’m only a few days in to the increase but I don’t feel as good as I was on just the 50, although I could tell that I needed more. My recent blood test confirmed that, with a raised TSH of 5.9, upper range is 4.2. Could the mix of brands be causing the apparent setback or is it early days and too soon to tell ?

Thanks in advance.

Calceolaria, @helvella has produced a document that shows what fillers are used in levothyroxine tablets. I found that acacia powder in TEVA tablets was bad for me. Another problem could be increasing your dose too quickly. You could try cutting 25mcgm levo tablet in half and take 50+ 12.5mcgm and see how you are with that and then increase to full 25mcgm tablet. With a TSH of 5.9 you definitely need an increase. How are your vitamin levels? It is really important to have good levels of Vit D, B12, folate, ferritin etc.

This is the document!

helvella - Thyroid Hormone Medicines

I have created, and try to maintain, a document containing details of all thyroid hormone medicines in the UK and, in less detail, many others around the world. It is sectioned by UK - rest of the world, and by T4, T3, desiccated thyroid, etc.

And do keep up to date. I edit it frequently- sometimes trivially, sometimes extensively. If your copy is more than a few weeks old, please download it again. (You must download - not just view in a browser- for the Table of Contents to work.)

Thanks helvella. I have the Advance Test from Medichecks which I shall be doing early next week. I don’t take Teva because of the mannitol sweetener.

Thanks for the info.

Alologies and thank you Crimple!

My TSH was 3.7 until I was tested as recommended on here - before 9am, before meds and before food.

Accord tablets are easily split, so you could request additional supply and split the 50 into 25. Best wishes.
