am I hyper or heading towards?: tsh 0.30, ft3 6.... - Thyroid UK
am I hyper or heading towards?
Ranges?
tsh 0.27-4.2
ft3 3.1-6.8
ft4 12.0-22.0
OK, so your FT3 is top of the range. But not yet over. TSH we don't care about.
But how do you feel? That's the most important thing. Is your heart racing? Do you have constant diarrhea? Is your brain working over-time? Or do you still have the same old hypo symptoms? Or do you feel perfectly well?
When was this test done? Time of day? Did you take your meds before the blood draw? When was your last increase in meds?
Oh! And what are you taking? lol Sorry, no more questions.
Hmmm... I think you've had other thyroid bloods done in the past, haven't you? So how do they compare? Is there an upward trend for the T3 and a downward trend for the TSH? Have you ever had your antibodies tested?
my tsh has been higher and ft3 and ft4 lower this has gone the other way
But you don't know if you have Hashi's? It could be that that is causing your results to fluctuate, and causing you to feel unwell.
As things stand, I don't think you'd get any doctor to treat you for hyper as your TSH really isn't that low. Certainly not compared to your T3...
I'm afraid I'm just thinking out loud here, because I haven't come across a case like this before.
Is there any chance that your doctor might investigate your pituitary? Or your adrenals even? Just because you have that much T3 in your blood doesn't mean that your body is able to use it, so you could still be hypo.
I just don't know, I'm afraid. Nothing obvious jumps out. Is your doctor doing anything?
I have gp on Friday I had antibodies done but they were in range 18.9 and 17.3
tsh if it was done in my doctors lab the range is low 0.34 and my ft3 is near the top I suppose its when it goes over the top its hyper?
Low, yes, but in someone that is hyper, it's usually suppressed. Even with the T3 over the top, it doesn't automatically mean that you're hyper. Mine is way over the top, but I'm still somewhat hypo. I have no hyper symptoms. That's why I said you have to take into account how you feel. You said you feel bad, but do you actually feel hyper? Because the symptoms you describe could also be hypo symptoms.
As to the antibodies, one negative test does not prove that you haven't got Hashi's because levels vary.
i'm very anxious, depressed, racing heart, cold/heat intolerance, tiredness, sluggish thinking, brain fog, blurred vision, wired feeling, dizziness/vertigo, cold hands and feet, dry gritty eyes, mood swings and many more.
Well, that does sound more like hypo than hyper to me, Nichola. But there again, with results like the ones you have I don't know how you're going to get a doctor to treat you. Have you tried going private? You really need to see an expert expert for this, the old bog-standard GP just isn't going to cut it.
hypo with those labs?
Hypo with those symptoms! Don't forget that labs can be thrown by all sorts of external factors, they are not 100% reliable. Also, whilst the norm may be normal for some people, it isn't necessarily normal for you. And with those labs, I wouldn't say you were hyper either.
But don't take my word for it. Find yourself a doctor that understands these things. But it will have to be one that thinks outside the box, because with those labs, there's nothing wrong with you. But only if you put all your faith in labs, which I don't. I know from experience. My FT3 is about about 500 % above the upper range but I am still slightly hypo, in no way hyper. I don't think labs tell the whole story.
I'm just thowing out ideas here, but have you thought about your adrenals?
Just for the record, and not inviting any comment, on the last blood test I had (I don't do them anymore) my FT3 was 7.02 with a range of 1.7 to 3.7, and I was still very hypo. The TSH was 0.03.
