Have you had any blood tests done like B12, vitD or Iron.
All the above are very important for converting the thyroxine you are taking into T3 BUT the only one that you can take without causing possible problems is B12 (even that I personally would get tested for first). If you take vitD and don't need it the body may make extra calcium which could lead to gall stones or worse and if you take Iron and don't need it that can be very dangerous. So my advise to you would be to ask your GP to do the tests and maybe add ferritin to the list or use one of the labs recommended on the main thyroiduk website, which I have linked below.

Already had stones in salivary gland operation. Take clonidine for sweating ( not menopausal)says my GP, side effect from clonidine is salivary gland stones!!!! Will check with quack whether I need b12
