How long for platelets to go back up?
I thought they would have gone much more by now but he is also on blood thinners because he has portal vein
thrombosis
. Do the blood thinners keep platelets low? Or does it take a very long time, if ever, for platelets to go back up? Thanks

And it may heighten the risk of
thrombosis
, though more studies are needed. I take apixaban because of my risk(and fear) of stroke due to AF/AFIB. We don't need the risk of another chemical with potential ability to clot blood.

ET Increase in Platelets Linear or Random?
My consultant basically said not much changes <60 unless you have a
thrombosis
event (which doesn't sound ideal, eg. wait for something to go wrong before doing anything?) . What is a
thrombosis
event? e.g. can you have minor?
thrombosis
events or is it just always really bad?

Weird leg pain
Hi everyone, I'm hoping someone can shed some light on this weird symptom! For almost 10 years now I have had pain in my outer calf about two inches up from my ankle on both sides. It comes on with the slightest exertion but is not there all the time. The achy pain builds and builds until I feel like

The role of JAK2V617F allele burden in PV
Conclusion « The knowledge of the JAK2V617F mutation in relation to PV has allowed both physicians and patients to understand that risk is not inherently based on blood counts alone but also due to the effects of JAK2V617F VAF on
thrombosis
and disease progression.

Immunoglobulin tests
Hi again. Yesterday I asked my GP if I could have my blood immunoglobulin levels checked as I like to keep a handle on those parameters which can indicate the status of my immune system. To be honest, I thought this would be done without question and routinely. However, my doc prefers that my CLL haematologist

latest research on stevia
I just received several posts that the latest research from Cleveland Clinic and
Thrombosis
Journal suggests artificial sweeteners ie Stevia causes blot clots. I still remember being advised no to Equal and yes to Stevia. But, I guess, the old adage of all things in moderation?

Necrosing spleen
My bother has PV and portal vein
thrombosis
and was directed to have radical spleen procedures. He has been in hospital for months and has been told that his medium and long term outcomes are high risk because HE has to decide on high risk surgery now, but he can’t, has no information.

Is it possible to overdo the self-injecting of B12?
Also, does anyone know if there's any danger of developing
thrombosis
from B12 overload, please? I've had a pain in my calf and haven't injected for two days as this worried me a bit - I'm wondering whether to recommence or hang fire for a day or so. Feeling very much in limbo at the moment!

Factor XI, it turns out, is crucial for the formation of the bad clots inside blood vessels, what doctors call
thrombosis
. But researchers now believe that factor XI, unlike other blood factors, plays a minimal role in forming the good clots that stop bleeding.
