Hi Indie, yes, I was diagnosed 25 years ago and have frequent chest discomfort with my IBS. Not a sharp pain, more of a dull come and go ache near my heart and it usually happens when I’m having bloating issues. I also have reflux and chronic gastritis, which doesn’t help. I’m in the US and my go to is Pepto Bismol. It always seems to settle it down within a few hours. Hope you’re feeling better soon.
Indie5678. Sorry for my short reply of yes. Had to leave. I have the same symptoms as HISTYsometimes. It is always unsettling as I also have had 2 heart attacks and this somewhat mimicks the way they started out for me. I try to be very still and quiet until it passes. Often it is gas as someone mentioned.
I sometimes wake up in the very early morning with a terrible pain in my chest which goes through to my back, like I've been run through with a sword! Right through the middle of my chest. It scared me a bit at first but I don't bother with it now. It doesn't happen in the day. I had a doctor listen to my heart, take BP, etc, and she said all was well, so I ride on that.
I don't know what it is, but it's not reflux as far as I know. Maybe some sort of muscle spasm or referred from the colon getting prepared for a morning bm?
Ask for an ultrasound to check your gallbladder. You might gallstones. Ask your GP for a course of antibiotics. You could also have a bacterial infection.
