Imodium and diverticula

hi there I seem to remember in my distant past that I was told not to take Imodium due to my diverticulosis is that the right word? LOL? Is there a reason for this? I also have IBS I stay gluten-free and dairy free. I find it helps slightly. I have a lot of nausea, I took an Imodium a week ago and I’ve still got quite bad pain. Is this coincidence? Thank you. My stomach problems only started after chemo and all the treatments years ago.

you should be ok with Imodium .

If you have issues with diverticulitis if I was you I would contact your GP. If the GP cannot see you quickly contact 111.

If there isn’t a problem you have lost nothing by getting some support

Thanks for the reply I’ve contacted them before for the pain ( though not immodium ) and they just prescribe penicillin over the phone which I never take for risk of diahorria hahah

I float between constipation ( which I take nothing for ) and diahorria and had to make an appointment so hence the Imodium lol

Your pain might have nothing to do with the Imodium . Definitely check this out.

It feels the usual diverticulitis pain and they don’t see you for that so not seeing anyone thanks though x

Heard yesterday my friend has an E. coli infection and been isolated. It hasn’t burst. Just had a niggling pain while on holiday.

Thankyou so you’ve never been told to avoid Imodium due to constipation being bad for the pockets as I called them

No but my diarrhoea problems started after treatment for oesophogeal cancer. My ibs went from c to d plus other absorption problems. It occurs to me that the hospital dietitian may have been unaware of the diverticulosis. Anyway I've been taking it on occasions about 6 years now and I have had no problems. Just slows things back to normal. Suppose it just depends on plumbing. Best to get the pain checked anyway. You don't say what cancer you had but if it was anything in digestive system did you have advice from a dietician? Good luck

Breast with all the treatments . No dietitian, seem to think the chemo wrecked my stomach , was sick the whole way through
