Imodium Instants work?

Hi All,

Just a quick one; for me Imodium does not work when I am having a D attack. It will work eventually though but like 5-6 hours later!!! Does anyone know if Imodium Instants actually do anything different?? Do they work quickly for you compared to normal Imodium?

Dont think they work any differently, but dont normally take 5hrs! They are very useful to carry with you, i think thats why they are called instants.

Hi they work . Best to take two to start. No tea of coffe or sweet stuff as theses all trigger the bowel. I find relax like yoga can help n walking slowly helps yo calm the bowel back to normal rythim

I had a problem on holiday about 18 months ago. Had 4 bouts before I left the river boat, so I took 2 Immodium instants after the first, however had 2 more episodes on the coach, no loo paper either, luckily had loads of tissues! I have IBS but now take probiotics and digestive enzymes and I have certainly improved, but not so that I would go out without my Immodium! Case of them not taking note of my food issues list!

Bless you!!!! Isn’t it just so horrible? Yes - tissues are vital!!!! I keep reading about people who take digestive enyzmes but I dont know where to start with them really.

So, with the Instants - would you say there are a bit quicker than regular Imodium?

I am going on holiday on Monday - and really want something stronger than regular Imodium (of which I have to take A LOT for them to eventually work) x

We always carry instants, even hubby can get "funny tummy" in his words however is not too fond of taking them. I do if on a coach!! Last year we were not allowed to use the loo on a coach, the other coaches did, guess who sprinted to the loo when we stopped!

Hi. I don’t think ‘instants’ work any quicker than the normal Imodium. It’s just they’re instant because you don’t need water to swallow them etc. I have read it takes about an hour for Imodium to kick in and also, I swear I read somewhere they’re most effective 16 hours after taking.. but I think I read that on a non branded version..

Thank you! Well, interesting you should say that because when I take them they always work better the following day - not in a dramatic bunged up way! So there has to be something in that. x

Same for me I think. If I’m flying or going on a long journey, I tend to take them the evening before now and perhaps for extra safety one in the morning. Seems to work best.

Me too!!! I was just Googling the different types of Imodium (even though I get prescribed large batches of standard loperamide) and there is one called Imodium IBS and one called Imodium Plus Comfort. The Plus one says it works within an hour and the others say “may work within an hour”. Gonna try Plus I think as they contain another ingredient x

Yes, I believe Plus is good for IBS related symptoms. Helps calm down cramping and gas I think. I’m just so grateful Imodium in any form was invented
