Dulcolax

I took one dulcolax last night at about 10pm. I had 3 bowel movements in the space of an hour, 11am-12pm today. No pain or discomfort. I felt amazing after but it’s now 3:30pm and i feel like i’m constipated again and that there is still more to be released. Shall I take another one tonight to clear the rest out? Or shall will the one i took last night sort me out. Don’t want to take another one and then be stuck on the toilet in loads of pain. Any advice would be hugely appreciated!! :)

I find that after a clearout with this stuff, diarrhoea etc. I swing to the opposite, so perhaps the trick is to use a low dose so it's just enough and the opposite swing likewise. Because of the delay and the swings, although it sounds counterintuitive, a low dose when you are loose is a possible strategy. However it's so strong that I make a point of using it infrequently. Mind, I can't say if I'm IBS-D or C.

I'd take low (half) dose; if liquid 2.5ml, not sure of other forms.

My stools were soft and easy to pass but not diarrhoea. So still half a dose?

I'm no doctor so this isn't advice, but it's probably what I'd do.

The decision has to be yours and yours alone, people can say what they would do but we are all different and react to things differently. It’s a trail and error as with any medication we take.

I agree with some of the already posted replies; the problem is, you can't always guarantee how things will pan out. I don't always find one works. YMMV as they say. Also, I agree that you may end up constipated again possibly but I can't say definitely. I take these regularly as directed by a gastroenterologist and am currently hoping to acquire Prucalopride through the public health system as its about $90 AUD a month otherwise!
