Hi has anyone had a pain in the top left side of their stomach? I've had this for a few days now. It's not constant, but it is very tender if I press where the pain is. Prior to the pain I had a few days of IBS problems with indigestion and gas. The pain appeared after those symptoms went. I feel perfectly well, so I doubt if it is viral. Any advice would be welcome.

Pain in upper left side of stomach
hi laurajn087, sorry to hear this. I have not had this. Perhaps you need to see your doctor?
I had this pain, upper left stomach area, for months. A few weeks ago I had a CT-scan. Turns out I have diverticulosis, which apparently was not infected. It was not gall stones, kidney stones or bladder. I was told that if anything gets trapped in the little pockets that are now there, it could become infected and then it's referred to as diverticulitis (extremely painful). ER doc said there should be no pain with the "osis", but there was. Then it morphed into "itis" and I'm not on an antibiotic for that, UTI or both. It is not viral. Worth having it looked at.
Hi I’m not a dr and can only talk from my own experience with upper left stomach pain but are you anxious/stressed about anything? I only ask as I suffer with GERD when I’m stressed or anxious. When I get this I know I need to eat better, relax. Take each day as it comes as to clear it is not just a physical state but a mental one too. Hope you get sorted xx
hi, I have the same problem at times, I have diverticulitis. Not supposed to eat seeds from tomatoes or eat corn on cob as may get stuck . A lot of people have this I don’t know much else about the condition though. Hope this helps.
I had this off and on for a few months and then nothing for 8 months. I decided it was mostly wind/ trapped air. Since then I've mainly kept to low fodmap eating , no fizzy drinks and low fat ....possibly that has helped, a bit inconclusive. Recently I also have had sharp pains on right side of stomach for 28 hrs, mostly when i touch the approx area of gallbladder, that too has disappeared. I've decided that since I'm 73, still alive, not in great pain, manage to eat, sleep, move my bowels ( not normal but at least have functionality) and am mostly pain free then I should stop worrying. At least my brain is still working.
I have the same, had an endoscopy today, turns out I have a hiatus hernia.
i have a hiatal hernia and that upper area you speak of is where 1i have the pain- stress and certain foods aggravate mine I have had it for as long as I can remember to around 27 years of age and am now almost 73. I have IBS too and when the hernia acts up so does my IBS Most of my IBS symptoms are stress and anxiety driven for I am on Zoloft which does a good job for me of keeping things mostly under control
Hi Laura, I am suffering with this horrible pain on and off for the past few days. I have ibs but I’m unsure if this is stomach related or bowel 🤷♀️.Definitely 💯 stress induced though as I’m going through a very difficult time atm with my father being close to death.I have had numerous endoscopy’s which only show up inflamed lining of stomach so I wonder if stress causes inflammation.Interesting though how someone responded suggesting diverticulosis.Best thing for it is to relax 😊not always easy! Sending love xx
I get the same pain under my ribs on the left hand side when I'm extreamly bloated. I've found deflatine from rennie & a couple of paracetamols works for me. Worth a try
