miracle treatmen for IBSd

after Suffering with IBS for 20 years I have at last found a treatment that works. I waited 9 months to see a consultant gastroenterologist. This happened last week and he started me on Colestyramine 4 g and after first dose I noticed such a difference ! Having ruled out other causes for my IBSd through dietary changes , colonoscopy ,FIT testing etc I can’t believe it’s taken this long for BAM to be identified as the cause. GPs over the years have only suggested Fybogel and probiotics which cost me £40 per month. I tried all sorts and types inc symprove , axis biotic and Alforex. I can’t tell you how life changing taking this miracle powder twice a day has change my life. In short I’ve got it back. Don’t hesitate to ask for this. I am also going to switch from sertraline to amytripoline when I next see my GP. I’ve been on sertraline for an about 4 years since COVID.

I’m on my next quest to address urinary incontinence which together with IBS have ruled my life for so long. Any ideas or tips for this would be greatly appreciated. Currently using Jude supplements and the past I’ve tried various pelvic floor exercises and gadgets but it is much worse requiring me to use disposable pants. always discreet boutique are the best but also cost about £40 per month and are not available on prescription. Only large adult pads seem to the available and they are more like adult nappies.

I think someone else on here mentioned colestyramine. But they had no gallbladder. Just out of interest have you had your gallbladder out?

No gall bladder intact. But it’s working very well for me so far. 🤞

Hi Clare, so glad you have had some satisfaction after all this time. I myself have suffered for the past 22yrs, I am sure it is often menopausal. I had my Gallbladder removed 11yrs ago and my IBSD went through the roof. My GP prescribed Colestyramine and I must admit I could not exist without it.For me though no two days seem the same, and I was just wondering when you take your Colestyramine. I take 1 sachet in the evening about 5 o'clock, but I have noticed that you take yours twice a day. Do you take 2 sachets a day?

I have been thinking about taking 1 sachet before breakfast and 1 sachet in the evening , to see if this will improve things a bit more. I have tried 2 sachets together in the evening but this was not helpful.

Sorry to go on a bit, but I seem to be having a bad day today.

Thank you for reading this.

Take care Pollyboo

At the moment I’m on one sachet in the morning but increase to 2 as advised and take that before bed. It’s really a game changer for me after only 6 days. No longer a prisoner in my own home. Good luck with it.

Hi Claire, I get fybogel on prescription, you should never have to pay for it. I don't even use it very often since I discovered Bio Kult. It's a pro biotic and helps so much, I can go weeks now without getting IBS d. Hope that helpsSue x
