Scary collapse

So with the lack of a definitive diagnosis I have assumed I have ‘a bowel condition’. All tests normal as of April this year.

Uncontrollable diarrhoea and permanent loose movements over a number of years plus diverticulosis are my history apart from Diabetes (2) low B12 Hiatus Hernia previous Bladder Cancer and a few others.

Told to use Imodium by GP.

Feeling gradually more unwell over last week or so did e consult and told to make a face to face appointment. Tried last Monday and Tuesday but told no appointments available at all.

Wednesday evening during supper needed to dash as per normal but quickly got worse with vomiting and terrible pains an sweating. Collapsed on floor with continued bowel excretions could not move for 2 hours. Finally managed to shower and clean up and it was bright red blood which continued into the night so phoned 111 and was taken by ambulance to A AND E.

Spent 36 hours on a trolley with no answers drips bloods etc. Finally had 2 drs one surgical told me it was probably bowel cancer then medical said I had raised infection markers so probably diverticulitis.

Taken to ward late Friday pm only to be moved within 30 minutes to isolation as had c diff infection. Now told this am (NHS does not do weekends) still no answers awaiting Sigmoidoscopy. So I ask the same question as on a previous post where to from here. Also in kidney failure as picked up in blood test in early July but apparently never actioned by GP All in my test results from that time.

This is unacceptable yet many people are put in similar situations every day. You must be insistent that you speak to proper consultants and if you feel your level of care is totally unsatisfactory and you are not getting any answers please contact PALS at your hospital. Even if you are in the hospital, they are there to support the patients and their concerns. I hope you get sorted soon.

I don't suppose it helped that the doctors have been on strike. I have heard 'ageism' remarks within my group of friends, agree with Frasina talk to PALS. That aside as I have more history than future I decided to go private for my gut Mot as the waiting list is long. Used our emergency savings pot now depleted but I feel better about my gut health. Appreciate not everyone is in the position to do this. Wish you good luck and get well soon💐
