I have had IBS for several years. Have had a sigmoidectomy over 30 years ago. Since January my bm's have been normal to constipation. For several year's I took bentyl and due to circumstances quit taking it. I now have pain like a side cramp from running. It goes around my back, to the front of my abdomen, into groin area, and down leg. My Dr said I have covid muscle. My chiropractor says it is muscular. I have pain when I try to stretch left to right. This is really bothering me. Anyone else have this? Just had gone density scan and shows slight osteoporosis in left neck of of femur. Am wondering if this is a lower back/hip issue or intestinal?

Left pain above left hip?
I often wonder too about what sets what off with me. I have some scoliosis, and get lower back pain centered around the sacro-iliac area. That comes and goes, and can be linked with what's going on in my gut. I get looser than I should bowel movements mostly and was diagnosed with IBS-D in 2020. Sometimes a day or two only of constipation, but in between, normal.
Sometimes before a bowel movement in the morning I get numbness in my left groin area and down the front of my left thigh. That numbness affects my lower left belly too. It all goes after a bm! Chiropractors have given up with me. The doctor sees this as two separate things: what he calls "some wear and tear" in my back, and the IBS as separate. But they often "dance together" and I think there's a correlation.
Thank you for responding. Sorry to hear you are going through this. Seems to be no rhyme or reason to all of this. For all of these year's of having this and other's too, one would think that some strides would be made. As my Chiropractor of over 40 year's says "everything is connected." That stress does not help any of it. No kidding! It doesn't take much to set me off these day's, that much I do know. Today was a whole new surprise after month's when having a bowel movement. Have been tired and in a bad mood all day. I know the brain and gut connection, and seriously think my gut is running the show lately. Hope you get some help soon. Take care.
Thank you, that's very kind . I wish the same for you too.
I think your chiropractor is right, everything is somehow connected. Sometimes when I pull my back a bit, do a bit too much work esp. on a damp day, that can trigger off my IBS to be a bit more miserable with me, so the gut and what goes on in the lower back do seem to be connected, probably through nerves. It would be so good if there was something that just got rid of it all!
