Gastritis
Hi. I had an endoscopy last year and was told I had chronic gastritis (meaning its been there a long time)Gastritis is inflammation of the stomach. Causes indigestion, loss of appetite, feeling sick and also pain which I was getting higher up in between and under my ribs. I was given lansoprazole for it which I have to take everyday. I also have IBS so I don't know if the two are linked 🤷♀️
Hi Puffnstuff,
I also have a hiatus hernia and Barratts and had a surveillance endoscopy in February they tell me there is nothing there, I thought Barratt’s is there forever once you have it. I didn’t think it was curable hence 3 yearly surveillance. I am still taking 40mg Omeprazole daily and nobody has told me not to. So I am confused 🤦🏼♀️
I was diagnosed with Barrett’s 14 yrs. ago. Docs thought I had laryngopharyngeal reflux (silent reflux, no heartburn). I had an upper endoscopy which showed perfectly normal throat tissue, but the tissue biopsy showed Barrett’s. So doc put me on PPIs, which I refused to take. I also had pH monitoring to check for acid reflux. It showed no acid reflux. I did have two follow up endoscopies, the second of which show NO Barrett’s in the lab report. Monitoring was discontinued. None of this made any sense. Typically with Barrett’s, throat tissue does not look healthy like mine did.
I just want to add that I did take Gaviscon Advance just to be on the safe side. It forms a floating barrier to prevent stomach acid from reaching the esophagus. I had to order it from the UK (I’m in the US). You might want to check into that.
