Hello just wondering if anyone else gets chest pain/ back pain and shortness of breath with gastritis?

I have Gerd and yes I get them with exception of shortness of breath. Check it out with your physician. Probably nothing but it would put your mind at ease.

It is very common to have these additional symptoms especially the chest pain... I would advise you check it out with your GP as if you are not on meds then you may need to be.

Thank you for replying i recently started pantroprazole, before that I was on omeprazole. This is a horrible condition I have suffered for years now with it.

Hopefully the new meds will work better for you. I agree the condition is horrible; I only suffer badly from time to time... you can also try taking Gaviscon Advance but it must be the advance version and take it after cleaning teeth before bed but not same time as meds. ENT consultant suggested it for me and it did work... you can take it 3 times a day at first.

The first time it happened to me I thought I must be having a heart attack. It happened in the middle of the night and the pain was excruciating in my chest and back and went up into my chin. When I discussed it with a Dr he said it was quite common. To try and control it, I don’t eat anything after 7pm and my meal does not contain any starchy carbohydrates. Quite restrictive but worth it not to have that truly awful pain. Hope you can find something that works for you. Take care.

I no the pain can be excruciating at times , I seem to be in pain all the time lately. I have tried cutting out certain foods but maybe I need to be even stricter to try find some relief. Very hard when you have 3 children to look after with this pain! Thank you for your advice.

Hi, I sometimes get the back pain but it’s usually right through my shoulder blades and is so painful. I get chest pain too but not shortness of breath. I’m on omeprazole atm and that has calmed things down although I’m concerned it’s not helping my ibs symptoms 🙄x
