I had h-pylori which I finally got rid of after three lots of antibiotics last year. In June this year found out I have mild chronic gastritis after a endoscopy. I’m guessing this was maybe caused by the infection…It’s causing my almost 24/7 nausea which wakes me up a bit like morning sickness at 4am every morning. Have migraines and bad tinnitus on top of this and now feel pretty down about it all. Just want one day of feeling normal and healthy.
Can anyone give me hope that I can kick this chronic gastritis? I’m panicking that I’m going to have forever! Im taking pantoprazole and Gaviscon after 2 months on lansaprasol which didn’t seem to help at all. I also have to take Cyclizine several times a day. Given up coffee and booze and having super healthy bland diet but still no improvement ☹️

Have you considered herbal medicine? There are quite a few herbs specifically for inflammation in the stomach. But if you were interested, I'd recommend a consultation with a qualified medicinal Herbalist rather than trying to do it yourself. They would take into account your whole medical history plus any medications you were on.
sorry to hear this, gastritis is very difficult to cope with. I had it twice a few years ago. Mine was caused by anxiety and although I took a high dose of Esomeprazole, I am not sure the medication helped much.
As my anxiety subsided, so did the gastritis. This is not much consolation to you, I am sorry, but I think it would be good to try the Acupuncture as you are also suffering from migraines and tinnitus, and a holistic approach I feel would be very beneficial. There is every hope that this would also help the gastritis.
Adding to a comment above, for some people, especially with long time use, PPI and similar medications are not intended to be used daily for longer than about 8 weeks. You may need to wean off of the pantoprazole slowly over a couple of weeks. There should be really good guides on how to do that from a quick google search. I had to do that about this time last year, but I cannot remember all of the details.
It might also help to try the FODMAP diet for a couple of months, add in some really good probiotics (the best ones can get expensive), and sleep on your left side with you upper body tilted up. These have made so much of a difference for me.
It can take a couple of months to get back to feeling better. I am still not 100% after a year, but I was in agony for about 9 months when I had gastritis.
Yes, have thought about trying FODMAP. Sleeping on my left with pillows is definitely helpful. Do you know what caused yours? I’be just got myself into a panic that because mine is chronic I will never kick it! I think I need to get out of that mindset. I do have the odd good day with little pain/nausea then it seems to come back worse than ever…
No idea. My docs think probably GERD. I had several things go wonky with me all at one time after a very stressful period in my life. Now that I have gotten off of the PPIs, gone through FODMAP, lost weight, no longer eat late at night, and sleep inclined, most of my symptoms have improved drastically.
Hi there, I’m so sorry to hear of your suffering. I myself had stomach problems and absolutely horrendous nausea a few months ago which seemed to right itself. However, here I am again in the same position, bloated, awful discomfort I’m upper stomach, pains in side going into back. Tests and scans all showing as normal, however we know that things are not normal!! Please forgive me for asking you but to diagnose the Pylori what did you have to do? I do know that once infected with these things they can leave an ongoing problem in the stomach. I’m currently on Lanzoperazole but not doing much currently.
They can usually do a simple breath test, but it will not work while you are taking Lanzoperazole. They can also do an invasive upper endoscopy and do a biopsy, but that requires anesthesia and is more costly. Your doctor might just put you on antibiotics to see if that clears it up.
