Hello everyone,

Im just after a little bit of advice the Doctors put my lower abdominal pains down to IBS, but im just curious if the pains could be down to Gastritis. I did somthing silly the other day, i researched apple cider vinegar, and its ment to be this new wonder supplement. Not for me me. I have had burning after eating and drinking ever since below and to the left of my sternum and above bove my belly button, antacids eases the pain, i also have lots of lower gas pain in the morning but goes away after i brake wind. Any advice would be appreciated. Thank you.

Put two blocks of wood under the head of your bed to raise your head above your chest when you sleep. Do not drink fizzy drinks or alcohol, and chew small mouthfuls of food really well before swallowing. Do not drink large gulps of any liquid but sip water, if you are thirsty.

Hi, please go back to the doctors and say you have the burning, they can give you omeprazole which will stop it completely. Acid reflux is not something to ignore, it can make you have stomach ulcers and burn your throat. I was also having chest pain, which is frightening. I take them and found my ibs has virtually gone. Don't suffer with this. I tried all the old remedies but didn't work, I was having the burning with a glass of water!

Hi Jet,

I have tried omeprazole but it didn't suit me, i have been taking Dgl liquorice witch is helping a lot, and having ranitidine and rennies when needed. Also i have been watching what i eat, i have had two night without lower abdominal bloating in the morning for the first time in months. I think eating to much takeaway food and drinking alchol and stress/Ocd set my Ibs/Gastritis off a year back. I just wish the doctors would have mentioned that Gastritis can cause Ibs symptoms without having to figure it out from the internet. I never had stomach pains to start with, but i read the damage to the stomach only starts to show when the damage is quite bad. I was also getting burning when drinking. How is your gastritis now? did it take long to heal?

Thank you for the reply, it's most appreciated.🙂

Hi, i have just stopped omoprazole as been on for many years. Felt awful for the week until read about apple cider vinegar, taking approx 1 to 2 TSP diluted before breakfast and dinner. 2 days in, Some indigestion but nothing like before! Have a read and look on YouTube, if trying to cut out medication and want to feel better might be worth a try x

Can I ask what happened when you took omeprazole? as I am taking it at the moment but think it's making me feel more poorly - lightheaded & a little nauseous plus yellow stool?

Hi,a reply to Jet i was just reading through this post and wondered in regards to the omeprazole and your IBS how it helped, what type of IBS was you suffering from? I was on omeprazole for a number of years as i had re-occurring gastritis pain in my stomach that was very uncomfortable and burping (not reflux). I had issues when i tried to wean down from 40mg to 20mg with bouts of diarrhea and cramps and yellow stool (sorry for graphics) and finally came off cold turkey due to having a colonoscopy which required it back in January, since then my gastritis has been better but the lose yellow stool and cramps have continued and got more frequent. I was wondering if my stomach acid has increased again but without the pain i was getting and causing the IBS issues.
