I have not been diagnosed with IBS but I think I have it, the thing is I suffer with bloating , constipation and diarrhoea, the other day at work I had really bad wind then sudden pains in my stomach followed by a sudden rush to the toilet , sorry for next part but graphic , but my bowel movement was ok then straight after more pain filled by diarrhoea that looked like cow pat lol , so felt a little better after but then about 10 minutes later I needed to go again and it was like water, I had to take Imodium but now I feel so exhausted and very nauseous with a gurgling stomach can anyone give me any advice as to whether it could be IBS many thanks

We always recommend that you see a GP for an official diagnosis of IBS or any other bowel condition, it should not be self-diagnosed or assumed.

There are many bowel conditions all with similar symptoms, but all treated very differently, without knowing what you are suffering with you will not be able to start living well with your condition.

What else could it be? | The IBS Network Symptoms of IBS indicate a sensitivity and irritability of the gut, which may, of course, be caused by other diseases that irritate or cause inflammation of the bowel. Your doctor will always need to consider the possibility of one of these.

Without a diagnosis from a medical practitioner no one will be able to advise you on treatment and you will not be able to start feeling well again. It cannot be diagnosed over the phone as there are certain tests that need to be carried out to rule out other conditions. It would be difficult for any medical practitioner or dietitian to give you any advice as what to do as there is no official diagnosis.

Please make an appointment to see your GP. Your symptoms are similar to IBS, but IBS can only be diagnosed by ruling out other conditions for which your GP will need to run tests - see here:

Hi Prettywoman73

I sure sound like it, but to be sure follow up with your physician just to be on the safe side. start journaling what you're eating and drinking habits are, on a daily basis this is a big clue. milk, seeds, high sugars alcohols, aspartame, nuts are starting to a good clue. watch and see if it starts early morning, afternoon or nighttime. but get in with physician soon as possible. 🥺

keep us posting.

Be careful with immodium as it can cause constipation and then diarrhoea it was on a television programme recently and it confirmed my own suspicions, it does sound like IBS but get it confirmed maybe try a gluten free diet this has helped me, good luck really feel for you as it is terrible 🍀👍🤞
