This word should be banned! As in its just IBS or its just Diverticulitis-and used this way countless times by healthcare workers.
111sent an ambulance because I had a fall Christmas Eve but it wasn’t’ life threatening so I suffered alone in silence after managing to get to bed . After 5 days I rang GP Who said call 111 which I did. I was told it would be several hours before Paramedics could carry out a health check which they wanted. This was fine by me and they arrived in due course. I showed them a letter from a Consultant I had recently paid to see outlining all of my medical problems and at each mention of my ailments the just word was used - 8 times!! Because I was able to crawl to the bathroom I was deemed ambulatory and was told to contact GP after New year’s holiday -4 days to see if I needed my hip xrayed. Temp and bp taken but no physical exam at all even though I had fallen down stairs and had hip pain. Diagnosed as ‘just’ bruising’. I think all hope is lost. Happy New Year to you all

I agree with you. It's easy for them to say but it is so demeaning. 'Just' is dismissive and seems to me to lack any empathy. My GP does not consider my gut issues as a 'long term condition'.
I have come to the conclusion that we are now just pawns in some game and dont matter. I am disgusted how things have become. Hope you get some “proper” help asap,
so sorry to hear you have been treated this way. It makes people feel very insignificant and i hate that. I hope you pick up and find a doctor who will take your concerns seriously.
Thanks for your replies , as expected no contact from GP or surgery. Having alot of discomfort which has been dismissed as just a fall,. As a 76 female I have never been ‘au feit’ with self intimate examination but bit the bullet and discovered, doing the splits has damaged the nether regions! Maybe some kind of prolapse but where to from here?
I was diagnosed by two doctors with lbs two years ago, according to them everything was ibs symptoms had water infections and a sore throat and they still blamed ibs, I feel they have labelled me for life.
Back to the gp or 111 and explain your findings. May be worth considering changing GP if yours is unsympathetic and you have another practice nearby. My GP has been amazing and it makes such a difference! Wishing you luck in finding appropriate treatment and a sympathetic attitude.
Completely agree, the word " just" could drive me from my zen like space which I maintain to help my symptoms, otherwise I'd be tempted to use a mallet!I also hate the word " just" from well meaning or bossy friends whom believe I could get miraculously cured from my various life time chronic illnesses if I , " just ate blah, blah", or, " just did blah , blah exercise class" , or ," just got a different attitude" ,or, " just did whatever they tell me to do despite having absolutely no knowledge or experience of what I have.
They should all " just" take a few lessons in consideration , "just" read a bit more about health conditions and patient care , or "just" Shut Up if they have nothing better to say.
Please take care and I hope you can get x-rayed soon . I had a fracture and torn Achilles for a week before my x-ray and was sent home despite my EDS making it more likely that I had an injury from A and E just told to rest and ice it.
I needed a boot and three months if recovery.
I had a similar issue with a crack in the hip because , oh , I'm so lucky that when it dislocated it just pops back in again!
They seem to be hedging their bets to reduce the need for the cost of so many x-rays giving basic advice and taking 10 days or more before giving an x-ray appointment. Trouble is the added damage that can be happening to those that are still moving about in the wrong way on an actually injured ankle or hip or more likely to cause a worse fracture or break if it is knocked again or they fall because of the weakness.
