Lately I have noticed that when I am constipated, my sciatica acts up to where I cannot walk. I have been going to the chiropractor, doing traction, dry needling, reflexology, and massage. I have also been taking the magnesium, (MSM). but when the constipation gets bad, I cannot walk. The MSM keeps the poop coming, sometimes it clogs the toilet because there is so much, but the pain with the sciatica is the worst....any recommendations?

sciatica and constipation
For clarification, is it that you take both MSM and Magnesium?
Hi I have noticed the same thing with constipation every time I get it I get sciatica and my hips ache and my osteopath said it’s because there are so many nerve endings in the bowel and surrounding area . It’s true for me and it’s so painful . Xx
it was how I found out I had IBS. Having researched it I realised I needed to watch what food triggered it. Onions and garlic are the worst with mushrooms, pulses and hot spices a close second. It’s miserable. Worse than the toilet problems I think because you can take things for that.
I do well with well cooked onions, garlic and mushrooms. But I can only have small amounts. I've been off spices with nightshades for many years and that helps my joint pain. I don't know hot spices are a trigger but it makes sense they would be one.
Any time I overeat that can be a trigger. It's very hard to remember though when I feel fine. I forget to stop eating.

The more I pay attention, I notice that when the pain in my lower back and hips is really bad I am soooo consipated. I have problems with not going for 10-15 days to it looking like a cow paddie or mud. I've been avoiding the drugs as much as possible, because of the side effects. I've had this problem for 60+ yrs. Now on top of it all, I am on heart medicine. I had open heart surgery in May 2022.
