It's weird even writing it down, but I guess easier to ask strangers than family or friends.
I am diagnosed with IBS (Diarrhoea mostly)
This morning when I woke my pany liner had what I thought was my period (often looks brown). But it was poo : ( I didn't have a toilet dream. Didn't feel anything
I took a dose of Immodium, then about an hour later after I had a long uncomfortable bowel movement, watery.
Took another dose and rested all day. Only ate toast and drank mint tea and water.
Should I be overly concerned and what treatments could the G P offer if any..? I have had leaky bum before but not like this. I currently take buscopan and peppermint capsules
Thanks in advance

I have had this problem as well, along with constipation. If it continues or gets more frequent talk to your doctor. There are some things that can be done in terms of dietary supplements, etc. A gastroenterologist and a medical dietician can help you with this. x
I found it interesting that you take peppermint capsules. I’ve been taking them and drinking peppermint and ginger tea I’m mostly d. I read just yesterday that peppermint and ginger both make bowel movements easier and can help with constipation. I had decided to stop taking them. I’d be interested on your or anyone else’s comments on this.
I just wonder if the peppermint capsules are too much, maybe they should be taken less frequently. I took one once and got diarrhea almost straight away. I have woken in the night needing to have a bm with twinges and pains but not usually diarrhea like ....but perhaps there's a similarity. Also have you noticed a pattern depending what you ate?
I take peppermint capsules but they are enteric coated . But I m constipated and it helps with that . Plus it’s says 30 minutes before a meal I would take it 1hr or 45 min. Before eating . But maybe try just the tea . I also have leaky bum . But it’s a bit like over flow .so I’m told . But see dr as we need to keep at drs as they just don’t understand how bad it can get . Hope you feel better 😁
I do take Colpermin, peppermint capsules when pain is really bad, but it tends to keep diarrhea going. Try buscopan , 2x4 times a day , they are a God send for me .
oh the joys of IBS thankfully you were home I wouldn’t drink hot mint tea try it a little cooler I’m the other way rock hard poo that manages to present its self in marble sized pieces but I do worry one may manage to escape Imodium isn’t really long term remedy Go and see your doctor you may have an infection
I had colonoscopy and am now on Merbeverine which helps with painful spasms etc and Pantoprazole on top of these I take Live bacteria caps and a peppermint cap daily I bought Peppermint cordial too
Since I stopped drinking hot herbal teas it’s been a lot better This IBS lark is trial and error it is a difficult journey really debilitating but I got to the stage when I talk to my tum and tell it it won’t win and to do it’s worse Sounds mad but positivity makes you stronger Get all your tests done and come back to us We are a friendly bunch who all appreciate what you are going through Good luck
