sharp pain inside right hip - ibs?

Hi, I’ve jumped over here from the thyroid forum.

For a few years now I’ve suffered on and off from a sharp, twisting pain to the top and inside of my right hip. I can also get quite sharp pains in my back, lower down but I’ve yet to work out if this is related or not.

I cannot seem to connect his pain to anything. It feels like if I don’t move, something will cramp, a really tight intense cramp. It often happens during the night if I sleep on that side and I have ti roll over before it feels like it’ll tighten up. Recently I’ve found it seems to be linked to when my gut is a bit off. Ie, this week something has messed up my stomach, and I’ve had a several days where I’ve felt bloated, a bit constipated, a bit loose and very windy! (I’m pretty windy anyway, esp later on in the day but this is even worse) So the last few days this pain has been almost constant. It does ease after a bowel movement and so this is why I’m here.

I’m worried in case it’s something more but reassure myself that this has been happening on and off for years, literally about 8/9 years, and I can have long periods where it’s gone completely. My granny died of BC so it’s always in the back of my mind and the thought of a colonoscopy scares me silly, so I’m scared to seek professional help. And my opinion of gps has seriously gone down hill in recent years due to being badly mis diagnosed with my thyroid stuff.

Has anyone on here experienced similar? Or can offer anything that might help it? My gut will flare up and settle fairly often but I have never worked out any pattern or triggers. I really hope the pain is just a symptom of that.

TIA

I have those too, from time to time. They seem to come and go.

I JUST got back from my GP for the exact same thing! I was concerned may be chronic appendicitis. After an X-ray she showed me pockets of gas. Also my posture plays into this as I sit for hours with my right leg crossed over the left. My IBS is a factor also as my blood test is still 99 percent positive for IBS!

Hope this helps a little!

This sounds like it might be a possibility. My tummy has settled yesterday and today and the pain has gone, again. So it’s definitely related to my gut movement/wellness. Thank you

Posture is important to me too. The best for me is walking, which provides real relief.
