IBS?

Hello, I am fairly new here but the posts have been very informative and reassuring.

So....I have had bad stomach issues for over a decade now. Was diagnosed with IBS originally and given buscopan to help (did not help in the slightest).

It got to a point lately where I pushed to be seen again as it's affecting my life more. I had a FIT test which was raised for Crohn's and UC, also blood was detected. I had a colonoscopy today which was bloody awful but am so happy that I do not have cancer. I was told it looks like IBS, now I was so thankful but also upset because my body is not right and for the last 2 years I just know there is something wrong and I'm getting no answers. I have been getting back pain, wrist pain, ankle pain, headaches, abdo pain (my regular pattern is to poo once a week or once every 2 weeks).

I have tried doing food diarys and some days I can eat food and be fine and others not. Alcohol seems to be effecting me more lately (social, very rarely drink).

I have been thinking maybe it could be fibromyalgia (sorry for spelling).

Any advice or help would be so nice! I'm exhausted and just am not happy anymore. When I get my episodes I feel like I am going to pass out with the pain.

Ergh please help!

Thanks

andreamad85, maybe these links will offer some help for your IBS or at least serve to present a possible cause. Vitamin B1 needs adequate magnesium to become bioactive. Always consult your health care professional before using any supplement.

Having a bowel movement once a week or once every two weeks is definately not enough. I would talk to your gastro or gp about this. I believe that at least 3 a week is considered OK. It seems that you are extremely constipated and this could be contributing to some of your other problems. Try to deal with this as a priority.

Thanks for the reply both of you. I will push again, they know my habits but have not done anything about that. I mean the colonoscopy is a big thing and appreciate that. I have also lost a stone in 6-8 weeks, not meaning to loose weight and have not changed my diet.

I agree with b1b1b1, having a bowel movement once a week or two weekly is not enough. But that aside, there is a big link between IBS and Fibro. I am convinced that is what I have now alongside the IBS. Mine started with pain in my legs and feet and then went into my arms and hands and now it its everywhere in my body. It also gives me headaches which I didn't generally have with just the IBS. There is a Fibro site on here but I haven't found them very welcoming, on the whole. I belong to a Fibro site on "Stuff that Works" and find it quite informative and friendly. You may want to take a look at it!

AHH thanks I will try and look at that. It is so hard to get diagnosed with that. Hope you are ok.

Just managing my symptoms would be great !

I’m not sure if this is helps, but for IBS you may want to look into a product called “IBsolution” made in the US. I am finding it helpful and for those people with IBSc (c stands for constipation not the diarrhea kind) it seems to work very well in most cases.
