Is this IBS?

Just wondering if anybody has similar symptoms and have been diagnosed with IBS or perhaps something elese.

I am having spazms in my tummy almost feels like baby is moving in there but definitely not pregnant. They are not painful, just annoying to feel some sort of movement going on in there most of the time. Along with that I sometimes get sharp pain on the left side of my bellybutton, which only lasts few secs than goes away. I also feel nauseous and extremely thirsty. And the weirdest symptom of them all is feeling like I have bubbles inside me that move around my body. When I go to the loo, I can sometimes see tiny bubbles raising up from my stool.

I had bloods, abdominal scan, abdominal mri, colonoscopy done all came back fine. Having a camera down to chexk my stomack next week. My consultant saying this sounds like IBS, but I am not too sure as when I read about ibs symptoms online they seem to be a bit different.

I do have change in bowel movement, they've become more on a soft side, but not really diarrhea.

I am feeling so frustrated as this is affecting my life and been going on for over 2 months now. Gone through so many checks already, yet still don't know whats the issue.

They are putting me on medication for IBS to see if my symptoms improve. Yet it is just a guess that this could be IBS as they can't find anything else.

Does anybody with IBS on here have any of these symptoms?

Nicole, I am not a Dr but have had IBS for years so a lifetimes experience, my thoughts are firstly all your scans are clear at this stage thats good news for many of the sinister stuff. Now the thing about IBS is everyone has varied symptoms, some like me have constant pain and alternation D and C, not really related to food for me although I have a strict diet. I also have associated things that i believe are tied to IBS like skin probs and insomnia. Yours sounds like IBS because its related to a change in BM and you just about feel the food moving through your bowels, sharp pain in all areas of the abdomen is common, but especially either side below the belly button, it can be random, and force you to wince, like a stitch. Thtas another thing i get is a sore stomach when walking or bending over, what I am saying is that in my opinion, and its only my opinion you have mild enough IBS, and yes it can last months and much longer in my case, current flare coming up over a year. You just have to manage it Im afraid, it will come and go, and may leave forever, but try not to overload stress on top of it, otherwise you get stuck in a circle of stress and IBS, IBS and stress. It can effect your anxiety levels too..

Have they checked for bacteria infection

I had bloods done several times and also had 2 stool samples done. All came back okay. :/

Did you ask what the stool tests were for? These are specific ie FIT test. Have you had a breath test?

in reply to Nicole12345

Do you get any acid reflux?

I do, but rarely. Not too sure what stool sample that gp requested was for, but I bought one myself for H. pylori and was negative. I didn't have breath test tho. I am having endoscopy this week. Wondering if it would show if its some sort of bacterial infection.

in reply to Nicole12345

Yes. I had that couple of weeks ago, ask the consultant to take a sample for h pylori, they can test this same time and tell you before you leave

Make sure your not on any meds like omeprozole (ppi)As that can give false results

When should I stop taking omeprozole? My appointment is tomorrow evening. I havent had one today yet.

in reply to Nicole12345

Ah probably explains why your home kit was negative. You need to stop a couple of weeks before any test.

It does sound like h pylori

Plenty of you tube clips!

Go for the endoscopy, then request a stool or breath test in a couple of weeks after you stop your ppi

Omeprozole can give you funny belly to.

Got tested for h pylori when had my endoscopy and it came back negative. Still having the symptoms tho and still dont know what it is, well apart from suspected IBS which I dont think it is.

Might pay to get a private allergy test it could be something simple your mildly allergic to that’s kicking things off
