I have this 24/7 .I lost a lot of weight because I had no desire to eat because of pain, I force myself to eat now and sometimes enjoy my food, but not very often. I have been told that I have a redundant colon and slow bowel transit though
It's always difficult to convey the discomfort/pain we experience. I get wind (gets relieved in various interesting ways, most pleasant being farting!) but it's one thing that knocks wind out of my sails so I'm (still) working on fixing it. FODMAPs (which you'll know about) are supposed to cause wind as they're fermentable carbohydrates. Including wheat. So a low FODMAP diet should (so they say) minimise them. Even when religiously following and avoiding things I like such as biscuits, croissants and nice bread, I still got the problem and going without in exchange for low FODMAP stuff like spelt sourdough (actually tastes good) and GF biscuits I still get some. A while back I ordered a pricey new gadget (just out -can't remember where I came across it) that measures gut fermentation by methane content in breath. Just starting to use and it shows that with starting to eat stuff pretty early today (5AM) to about 10-11 then mostly stopping, my methane ramps up from low to high between 11 and 2 then stays flat from round 3 and drops in evening when there are no FODMAP temptations. Aha! Now I have a chance to nail the source of my discomfort and get more of my life back. Tomorrow I'll hide the croissants and biscuits and see if I do any better. Managing IBS seems to be a big time consuming experiment.Cornflakes, rice krispies and banana don't cause me problems. And I find KFC old style meal with coleslaw also fine.
Thank you I ve had a good day today till about an hour ago and now I have wind and yes the best feeling is when pass the wind but does not always come out.
I ve had no wheat at all so don’t know what’s cause my trapped wind this evening.
My symptoms have changed quite drastically since August, when I had 3weeks of very unusual diarrhoea for no discernible reason. Since then, have suffered frequent bouts of unbearable pain and unpredictably changeable bms, and am afraid to leave home. Have had IBSC for 45 years, and previously managed to live with it. Lost all appetite for many weeks, and have lost over 2 stone in a few weeks. Had scan, but nothing shows. I have kept daily food diary for years, but again this does not show any pattern that could be helpful. At the age of 90 I am on long waiting list for yet another hospital appointment, although I feel nobody has any real answers. At the moment, have same problems as you. Bloated, windy, no matter what I eat. Worse at night and early morning. Have noticed somewhat less pain as long as I take a walk of at least 20 minutes outside, but never goes away. Appetite returned but not sure what to eat for best. I am sorry to be so gloomy, but cannot offer any advice and only share your pain.
