Does anyone experience cramping when drinking water on an empty stomach?

I seem to be noticing this more and more frequently. Lots of gurgling and wind and increasingly mild cramping. Anyone know why?

My current work around is hot water with honey lemon and ginger which settles it all down. Have swapped out my morning coffee for it and my stomach is much more settled.

My guess (and it's just a guess) is maybe it's the coldness of the water? I imagine you don't mean the sparkling kind, but still bottled water, or is it tap water? But if it's relieved by your warm drink, maybe what causes problems is just the coldness of it.

That's what I wondered, its room temperature and filtered but it is wierd.

Hi, I can relate to having an aversion to drinking water which gives me cramps each time whether it's cold or room temp. I said it to my consultant and GP but they cannot explain it

Glad i am not the only one was beginning to think it was pretty odd as it happens every day. Maybe it is the temperature and just enough to kick an already sore and overactive gut into action after a rest period. Not sure whether it is the heat of the lemon ginger or the lemon ginger that helps but it is quite soothing. So I will have to test it out with warm water although I dont know whether that sounds terribly palatable.

I don't suppose it matters if you drink water or not, so long as you drink your teas so you are getting hydrated from those. Maybe have your tea first thing, instead of drinking water? I hate drinking water when I have just woken up. It always tastes horrible for me at that time of day! Don't know why, because I like it at other times.
