Hi

Does anyone have trapped wind every day even though still having bowel movements?

I don’t have a bowel movement every day but have trapped wind every day, regardless of everything am taking to try to help relive it.

Mostly I can track this to lying down too early or having a fizzy drink like tonic or soda....not always , but that is my finding so far...and it is only at night.

Same here with the wind. Comes on in the middle of the night after visiting the loo for a pee and getting back into the horizontal position in bed. I then have great difficulty getting back to sleep.

Same here. I feel like mine is hormonal

Had an awful day of it yesterday. Don't have it every day but it's so blinking painful and nothing can shift it. Tried taking Windeze or whatever in the past, didn't help. Never sure what to take as don't want to make IBS worse by mixing pills. You have my sympathy, not that it helps your pain.

H pylori?

Yes I do. Really struggle to pass wind. Leaves me with severe lower abdominal pain. Had a bad few days recently had a severe cramping attach last week still have s lot of pain even now. Keeping me awake at night. I would be grateful for any help as well

Same here, the pain keeps me awake at night, every night. windeze sometimes helps during the day, but not at night for some reason

I get it when my stomach is empty, eg if I eat small meals or a meal is delayed, also if I can't get up & move around after eating. The only way that helps (but only a bit) for me is to deeply prod & massage the tum & my sides. Windeze seems to take the edge off it a little. Sorry - I'm no help either!

the past two days I am so gassy. I know I shouldn't but i continue to drink coffee with half and half. I have just been having toast. oatmeal sounds appealing but it causes me to be more constipated if that is possible. all i want to is sleep. usually i can only get about three hours of sleep. i just read that fasting might help. i am going to take a laxative now magnesium citrate liquid.

Hi please let me know what magnesium citrate liquid you take and how much. I sometimes take capsules but they don’t always work.

Hi, I have found the low fod map diet very helpful to prevent the trapped wind building up. It reduces all gassy fermentables which could be problematic. The cause then can be addressed, which may or may not be ibs, personally I think I have sibo, which is difficult to diagnose ( breath test for hydrogen or methane in small intestine). Symptoms are the same as ibs so easily overlooked!Good luck and certainly try the diet, Google it , it can make life more bearable

Hi, I had wind pain every day badly for over 2 months recently together with bad abdominal pain (and D too). At the time I thought it was a flare of my ongoing IBS (that I have had 20 plus years) and a gastro person that I paid this time to see (my GP refused to send me to see anyone) said that I could take Buscopan for more than 2 weeks (even though when you buy it it says only take for 2 weeks). I did take these for a few weeks (4-5 I think) but never the max dose - normally no more than 2-3 a day. It really did make a difference and I found them better than Windeze. Peppermint tea also helped. My issues are both IBS and now I have found out I have IBD (colitis) so maybe for me it is difficult to say which is the root of the wind/ab pain etc.. Maybe try Buscopan for a few days instead of Windeze to see if it makes a difference. Hope you find some relief and limit foods that can cause gas - there are lists online. Good luck x

Hi,

Peppermint oil capsules really help me with bloating and wind. I get extra strength ones from Holland and Barrett.

I suffer from this daily too. I get it in my upper abdomen too which stresses me out! A heat pack and peppermint tea are my go too’s, but they don’t always help. It lasts for days on and off, just when I think it’s gone, it starts again, sometimes weeks😩

That sounds like me, do you get any upper left side spasms that feel like trapped wind around the lowest rib, I can sometimes make it gurgle if I breath deeply

I am dealing with the same pain as yours , left side under ribs , it varies in severity , sometimes very painful, sometimes it feels like a ballon is lodged there. Its 24×7 , the only time i feel better is when i sleep

How long you are dealing with this pain , any medication that helps??

Sweepy13 profile image
Sweepy13 in reply toChirag123

I take Mebeverine MR in a morning It definitely reduces the gripping pain but doesn’t ease that balloon feeling which seems to be with me most days and can trigger my worries and then I don’t relax and I think that makes it worse Hope you’re having a good day

Chirag123 profile image
Chirag123 in reply toSweepy13

I tried mebeverine but didn work much , it decreases the sharpness of pain but the heavy felling stays as with you.Now i am on librax and nortrypyline thats working much better but librax stops working after a month.

I'm trying the citalopram I was given a month ago I can’t believe I have had IBS most of my life but I recognise the triggers more than I used to … or so I thought but since Nov I just can not settle this constant tightness in my tummy and that feeling you describe perfectly..like a balloon is sitting next to your left rib …. My mind runs away with me Hope you are having a better day

Hiya, yeah I often have it. Very painful. I take peppermint capsules after food sometimes but mostly rely on Senocalm. Its great for IBS symptoms. Problem is you can only buy it from selected pharmacies and stores.

Yep same here every day, I've found that hot drinks help to get rid of it.

Used to get it every day and it was awful, I cut out lactose and now it doesn't happen to me any more.
