Try walking around, alternatively try pressing your tummy on the lower left side and then the lower right . Push your tummy as though you are trying to gently massaging yourself.

Thank you for your reply. I really appreciate it. I have tried repeatedly to do this but with little success. My IBS has been ongoing for over 20 years but worsened recently with constipation. I'm seeing a dietician and using FODMAP and flaxseed. It has helped a lot but the wind pain at night especially is draining me. Any other advise would be appreciated. X

Try moving about loads. Also hot water , just plan hot water.

If it something u suffer with( it was one of my main symptoms used to b horrid) i now take peppermint oil capsules every morning and evening and i never get it now at all.

So mayb try this if it a ongoing problem.

Also make sure to try some probiotics. Swear by them.

Thanks for reply. Have hot water every morning and take Colpermin but not on regular basis so maybe that's what's needed. Will try it. On probiotics but had run out and hubby offt to get now. Take Alflorex unless something better can be suggested😃

No alflorex is good, optibac, bioglan... u should change them every three months or so as ur gut becomes used to them.

See weird but colpermin never helped me and there so expensive and all they are is peppermint extract, i get my extra strength 200mg ones from holland and barratt£7 for about 160 or something and i literally take one before brekkie and one before dinner and my stomach good to go.

U may wana try a digestive enzyme they help break down foods and fats to help ur gut digest. I take them but it obv everyone elses choice.

I found with all them my ibs has more or less gone...

Dont get me wrong i also changed my diet.

Thank you so much. I always felt Colpermin not strong enough so will def try H&B and digestive enzymes. Great information . I feel so much more hopeful!! Xo

It will get better it taken me years to realise i even had ibs i thought i just had a continuous dodgy gut 😂.

I realised after getting quite ill i was not ok and it was abit more serious when i went from 10st to 7 in space of 3-4 months.

Then i saw gastro and a allergy test( not nhs) and i was allergic to gluten and yeast. So i cut that out and took these supplements and im back up to 9 stone and eating healthy and feel good about it.

Prob done me favour really as i liked all my cakes and breads a little to much. So it made me extra healthy

Lol!! I know what you mean re cakes etc. I have had a lot of tests recently and all good but they found I am gluten intolerant. I have been lactose intolerant for a long time. It's just the constant juggling I find so difficult and get very emotional and down so it's been great to hear from you and will try your recommendations. Thanks once again. Xo

Oh i remember standing in the gluten free aisle in 3 supermarkets on way home from the allergy tests and CRYING!! proper blubbing like a child.

I said to my husband “ thats it, there a pile of 💩 here, im never gona eat again”!

I laugh now. I musta looked a right hormonal women.

It was so bad just two years ago!

It got so much better now.

Most place do a great range and most restaurants do a good allergy menu.

At first i literally lived on gluten free cereal and chicken and veg!

Now i can eat most things ( not gluten or yeast) but i did realise how much yeast i ate once i stopped, it all breads, cakes, pastries, gravy... so much has yeast in it... beer!

Then the gluten aswell.

It does get better and since i stick to the supplements i can even have a tiny bit of gluten every now and again and i dont react.

Still do yeast though

Mintec (peppermint oil) from the doctor works for me. Moving about good advice.

(I take Mebeverine before meals)

Good luck with Fodmap diet - you will eventually find what causes the wind.

Its a (life!) long learning curve

Stress is key of course.

Talking to IBS nurses v helpful to me too.

Good luck!
