Uncomfortable and anxious

Had a phone call appointment from g.p last week and explained all my symptoms.I asked for blood test and stool test.He said that none of my symptoms raised any concerns with him and he wasn’t going to do these tests at the moment because I didn’t need them.

He prescribed Mebeverine to take twenty minutes before meals. And some diazepam.I took the Mebeverine that evening and then when I went to bed had really bad cramps and then bad runs.So I haven’t taken any more now.

Even though I am having quite loose toilet in the mornings I feel I still haven’t been properly.

I’ve just bought a portable bidet from Amazon to give that a try.Its a nightmare.

Don’t know what to try next.My husband is talking about going private.

Well, they probably won't give you a referral then. Is there a way you could a 2nd opinion from another GP? I feel for you

I initially went to my GP in 2005 with abdominal pain and was instantly diagnosed with ibs with no tests at all. Fast forward to today I had to fight to get blood and stool test done which I have had done and found my feacal calprotectin was mildly high. I have to reaper the test in 3 weeks and then possibly have a colonoscopy. I could have an IBD.. you must persist you know when something isn’t right.

I hear ya! 4 GPs at 2 different surgeries before I got proper treatment try a different gp in your practice and if you're still not getting the right support go to another surgery. You have the right to ask for a second opinion.

It's annoying because there are several conditions all with similar symptoms to IBS and Dr's just don't want to spend their money doing tests. Yet you see ads for cancer on the TV telling you to go to your Dr if you have any change or bowel habits. Go back and say the mebeverine isn't helping. It's for spasms BTW it won't stop diarrhoea as such. I found Enterosgel helpful for loose stools /bloating, you need to do a 4wk course initially
