I am new here and I am currently waiting for a doctors appointment to see if I have IBS. I show most of the symptoms but I don’t know what happens if I do get an ibs diagnosis

Hi PennyBee, most likely very little, no need to worry. Depending on your symptoms and asking a few questions the GP may make suggestions for some tests to check out a few things before making or giving any diagnosis. Have you looked at IBS network and kept a diary as that can be helpful.
Sadly not much. In my experience I was told I had IBS and that was it. I had to google help on my own.
Not much really, I was prescibed Mebeverine and sent on my merry way, no mention of following a Low Fodmap diet or any further advise, like with many health conditions we are on our own, but thankfully with this site and the internet/books etc we can get by
I went to my dr with IBS symptoms but they decided i needed a raft of test so blood tests, poo tests including a fit test, a imaging ct scan, a colonoscopy and a gastrology to rule out anything sinister. They found i had 5 polps all removed and benign, a small hatius hernia, a hernia in my groin , divicultus. But they have decided it is IBS. I am on omeprazole, laxido and amitripltyine. Push for tests from your doctors.
