Constipation
Hi, in the past I took bisacodyl just before going to bed. Now I also take it during daytime because of my constipation/fecal impaction. If I'm too constipated, if there is to much fecal material in my colon I found out that it's sometimes too 'agressive' for my colon and can result in a lot of pain because as I feel it it's trying to push fecal material through a too narrow passage (because of the fecal impaction). That's why I also use Cascara Sagrada. It does the same as bisacodyl but is more gentle for my colon. Sometimes you will have to find out the hard way if you need one or two tablets bisacodyl. Maybe its better to take one tablet every 6 or 8 hours. I still don't know how much I have to take but for the moment I'm going to try one tablet every 8hours and 2 tablets before bedtime. I'll have a X-ray this Wednesday for diagnosing the colon transit time and will see my gastroenterologist next week to discuss the result. I think that in my case it could be the (enteric) nervous system that's causing the problems. This could lead to CIPO, chronic intestinal pseudo obstruction. Hopefully it's not that bad but there seems something wrong with the gut motility
Hello, I’ve found that taking a Ortis, Fruit and Fibre cube works really well for constipation. I cut the cube into three and take morning, teatime and bedtime. I had to experiment to find what suited me as different people only need half a cube or whole cube every other day. Can buy in pharmacy, Holland & Barrett or health food shops. I’ve tried lots of other medication but these cubes really work. Good luck in solving your constipation problems. Take care.
