Cheese & constipation.

Iv`e always had a strong tendency to constipation, but Iv`e realised recently that ive I eat even the smallest amount of cheese, I`m bunged up for days. Yogurt has the same effect. I can take milk in my tea & coffee without ill effects, so how come other dairy products do this to my digestion? It`s really annoying because I like cheese & yougurt.

You probably can't take much lactose

At the age of 65, four years ago, I became intolerant of dairy - I love cheese !!!!

A few months ago I tried two thin slivers of cheese but felt bad for the next couple of days - so no more cheese

I also can't take hard boiled eggs or much brown bread

I always thought that lactose intolerance caused diahrrea, not constipation.

I have exactly the same problem with cheese. I can tolerate just a small amount of cheese in a sauce but tht's all

I have the same problem with cheese, I can tolerate just a small amount of cheese in a sauce but that's all. I seem okay with other dairy products in small quantities, but can't eat a milk pudding. Bread is also a big no-no for me!

I found the same thing which is a pity because a good cheese is one of my favourite things to eat. Fortunately I've found I can have some goat's cheese and be OK. As for yogurts I recently tried the Alpro Soya ones and there's a pear one, I think it's pear and mango which is delicious!

Much the same, i've ' cured' or lessened my constipation by eating more grapes, seems a natural drug for me.

We just have to be honest with ourselves as well, i tried to deny i had problems until i gave healthy living a try, much better now using natural products etc and less crisps, choc, biscuits etc

I find as long as I eat hard cheese, like cheddar but not like melted on toast,lm just fine. Goats cheese I have no problem with, and I think it's quite nice. As for milk I drink Ko Ko milk and I eat Ko Ko yogurts there delicious.

I find Alpro yoghurts fine, & I`d eat goat`s cheese if I could find it in my local supermarket.

Hi

That's really interesting about cheese that might be my problem I saw a nutritionist last year she told me that lactose intolerance causes the runs so it's not likely to be that also most cheese doesn't contain much lactose so it's unlikely to be that but I think it's just a case for lots of people not sure why I love cheese too.

TISWAS I was informed cheese on a diet puts all your weight back on and fruit and vegetarian will not help. Best to avoid cheese and dairy products.
