Symtoms of ibd or ibs

Hi everyone I've had high calorpection levels from my stool sample being referred to gastroenterologist I'm worried its serious they said sounds like ibs or ibd but I'm confused why it's high when I have no symptoms of ibd I'm just so tired of this plus I suffer with really bad health anxiety 😪😪😪does anyone else get bloating really bad pains some constipation mucus some help 😢

I am in exactly the same situation as you. I had a reading of 126 on my calprotectin test so it was repeated 2 weeks later and it’s risen to 219. I have no symptoms of IBD but this pain (lower left side) has been continuous since November last year. Some mucous in stool but not always and no blood and mainly normal movements. I’ve been referred to a Gastroenterologist so will have to wait for that. I also suffer from health anxiety. Were your calprotectin readings borderline?

No my readings was high i think 280 so I'm worried there's something wrong due to my anxiety I can't settle at all thinking the worst do u get gassy and bloated I've never had blood so don't understand how they think it could be ibd but I have to wait 5 weeks for an appointment I've never had blood either no wait lost all they said it could be ibs c

Have you got any other symptoms like reflux, anxiety?Have you been tested for h pylori? Your reading could be higher if your on ant acids or ppi

Hi I'm being referred for a colonoscopy due to left side horrific pain and blood in poo sample although doctor said my blood test was good she said you obviously arent bleeding inside as would show anemia...I've started taking a herbal tablets called pslillum husk and feel alot better it was recommended on the divercilotis forum...left side pain is sometimes diverticulitis I'm 61 young healthy no health issues but just started with pain in dec..I.never realised so many folk had diverticulitis it's very common over 50s ...

I’m no doctor but it does sound like DV. 60 percent over 60. 70 percent over 70 etc etc. That’s how it’s was explained to me re the people have this. My mum has pan diverticulitis, had it for years but was never told to refrain from nut, seed, and things like granary bread etc. One day one of these got stuck in one of the pockets and caused an abscess.

calorpection , levels higher than normal is not normally ibs. Constipation can cause more mucus. Ant acids can cause higher readings.H pylori symptoms. Wind, gas, reflux, gripping feeling or turning in gut, pockets of air feeling in guts, ANXIETY!! Because the bug lowers the serotonin levels in your body. Have you been tested for this yet?

My calprotectin was 329 i.e. sky high and I was still diagnosed with IBS after colonoscopy. Statistically more people will come back with an IBS diagnosis than anything sinister.

What is your diet like? Are you consuming enough fibre? Do you take any probiotics like Alforex that have been scientifically studied for IBS? A gut bacterial imbalance (dominance of bad bugs) can cause pain. Alflorex can help shift the balance. I did for me and reduced my pain to zero.

I attended a microbiome course online hosted by scientists and they said that a lack of fibre in the diet can cause inflammation.
